In an attempt to completely block Justin Sun off of taking over the world(by the world I mean the STEEM blockchain), the governance at STEEM decided to fork the STEEM blockchain.
The thing is, ever since Justin Sun acquired a huge number of tokens, the governance decided to fork only tokens that didn't belong to Justin Sun.

The STEEM community has planned a hardfork for tomorrow, which is Friday.
The community has said that while there would be some small upgrades to the underlying tech running the STEEM blockchain, and its tokens, the bulk of the upgrade would be to flush out Justin Sun from the system.
This hard fork would result in the creation of a new blockchain called HIVE, running on the HIVE token.
The hardfork would be happening by 10am Eastern Standard Time tomorrow, which is 4pm Pacific or West African Time.
So what is Hive, and how is it different from STEEM?
Hive is a DPOS [Delegated Proof of Stake] governance blockchain created by implementing a hard fork of existing Steem code.
The community at STEEM said that after Justin Sun acquired STEEMIT, the value of STEEMIT, which was very high before subsequently fell to almost zero level. The community told us that most of the intelligent developers who worked at STEEMIT before quit their jobs, and led to the valuation of STEEMIT almost falling to zero.
They even told us that STEEMIT doesn't want anything to do with Justin Sun at the moment, and that some users even said that they would be willing to pay to make him leave.
This was all following Justin Sun's own hard fork of the STEEM blockchain, which he carried out with help from major exchanges like Binance. He did this to ensure full control over the STEEM blockchain.
This hardfork, and the formation of the Hive blockchain would be a saving grace of some sorts for the STEEM blockchain.
It would serve as a means to fully decentralise the network once more, and bring back the STEEM that everyone knew and loved.
