Protect your crypto wallet and your PC

Ideally, we should all be using hardware wallets to store our coins. However, there are many coins that are not supported by hardware wallets and you may have no choice but to use a software wallet. Another possible factor is that you may not be willing to spend money on a hardware wallet if you believe that you can harden your PC against hackers.

If you are using a PC to store your software wallets, you definitely should install an antivirus as a minimum level of protection. As it turns out, if you are already using a Windows PC (which most people are), it already comes pre-installed with Microsoft Defender. While MS Defender had a bad reputation in the beginning, this year was a a turning point because it actually got named as the Best Free Antivirus software by CNet! Personally I would recommend using Comodo Internet Security as it is free and can also be used in a commercial environment.

You will also need to keep yourself updated on security matters as the tech world moves extremely fast and some vulnerabilities can be really dangerous if you do not act fast enough. At time of writing, Bitdefender (incidentally named as an "Alternative Free Windows Antivirus" by CNet in the same article) actually has a security hole that allows hackers to take full control of your computer! Apparently millions of their users are affected, so do take preventive measures if you are one of those who has Bitdefender free installed.
