In June of 2018 the blockchain company Tron acquired BitTorrent. This was at first a highly praised decision by the cryptocurrency community. Tron purchased the company at the cost of $120 million. The BitTorrent platform has 150 million active users. This gives a potential to bring in a large group to the cryptocurrency community.
Later in 2018, Tron announced that it would not be using its "TRON" coin on the platform. This caused a lot of past supports of the purchase to no longer like the plan laid out by the Tron Company. Tron stated that they would instead, create a new token built on the Tron network called the BitTorrent Token or BTT. A lot of TRX Coin(Tron) investors saw that if the TRX coin was used on the platform with 150 million active users, that their coin would raise in value.
Once the news of the BTT token on the platform settled, Tron gained many positive supporters again. Tron started to announce that airdrops would soon take place to TRX(Tron) coin holders. The biggest airdrop of BTT coming to TRON holders as early as February 2019. They also laid out a plan for additional airdrops to take place until the year 2025. This will keep investors interested in the TRON platform and the BTT token for years to come. The airdrop will take place on the 11th of every month until the noted year. Keep in mind, the biggest airdrop will be the first one on February 11th 2019.

When the BTT token is eventually fully integrated with BitTorrent, users will earn BTT for sharing(seeding) files. This will encourage more users to share files once they have completed the download. Currently, a lot of users do not share the file after their download is complete. Users can also choose to opt-out of the BTT earning model.
This brings me to the problem that I can see taking place in the future. At least in the US, but most likely other countries as well. Individuals in the US(not as much as in the past) have been fined or brought to court over illegal movie, music, and software downloads. It is less common today, but the seeders(sharers) of these files will get the worst of the legal action. Especially if they host a large number of copyright materials. I can see one day legal action becoming even more common if the copyright infringers are financially benefiting from sharing restricted content.
I do not agree that this should be the case. I believe that as people, we need to share all creations openly. We need to share works of art, movies, music, and code so that people can build upon past creations to advance our world more quickly. The reason this is so important is that there is a lot of suffering in the world. The quicker we can advance technology and thought, the quicker someone could potentially find solutions to end these problems of human despair. Copyright laws are put into place to ensure that both the creator and the managers of the creator get all streams of revenue. This also is a way to make sure the creator and team get power, recognition, and status. These four things - Money, Power, Recognition, and Status - are some of the top sought after resources in today's world.

Overall I am happy that Tron made this purchase and proud of the company for their courage. Even though I see this potential problem, it is an important step in world advancement. I look forward to the future innovations that Tron and other block chain companies in the space will bring.
