If you are a regular Splinterlands player then I am sure you are already aware that the new collection called Conclave Arcana has been launched. Overall this is a big plus for Splinterlands as a game as this launch was really hyped bringing a lot of new players into the game ecosystem.
This phase is bit of a challenge for me as my strongest set in the portfolio was Chaos and as it was overnight moved out of Modern format into Wild I find myself handicapped playing Modern.
I had never bothered to build up my Rebellion collection as somehow I liked Chaos cards more and building a new collection requires quite a bit of investment which was not an easy task considering how bearish overall last couple of years had been.
I did pick up a few Arcana packs but it was not enough to build a strong deck and I will have to wait patiently relying on my Rebellion rewards cards to slowly strengthen my portfolio while picking up few Arcana packs once in a while.
Gift from Splinterlands- One Wild Season without Pass!
Splinterlands likes to promote the new collections that get launched to incentivise the new players getting on-boarded. One key aspect of this protection is to save them from the onslaught from old times with maxed out Untamed and Chaos collections.
To do this a $2 season pass was applied for Wild format where you can use any collection cards to play but Modern which includes 2 recent sets is free to play.
As $2 per season I think is quite steep and there is no guarantee you will recover that with the rewards in the season specially since the introduction of soul bound cards as rewards which can not be traded.
With the launch of Arcana Splinterlands team decided to gift the users the pleasure of playing one Wild season without worrying about the $2 entry pass.
Nostalgia of Using my Untamed Cards!
To avoid this pass I had not played Wild format for many years. This meant that I had not used my Untamed cards in a very long time.
Thanks to this free Wild season I decided to hit the Battle button in Wild after so many ages.
The moment the screen came up for me to select the team for the battle I was hit by a strong sense of nostalgia when I saw I could use my Untamed legendaries which I had not seen in so many days.
It brought back memories as if I was playing my childhood favourite video game after 10 years.
I immediately started off with a long winning streak as placing my favourite Robo Dragon Knight and Ancient Lich came back as muscle memory.
I sailed past the leagues and quickly unlocked Gold I league. The rewards were decent as I got many Rebellion reward cards which I had been waiting to level up.
Now I was suddenly hit with a wall. Moving up till Gold I, there was a feeling of invincibility but as soon as I reached Gold I the level of my opponents suddenly went up. Now I was up against people with maxed out decks of Chaos and Untamed. Some even had maxed out Rebellion and Arcana sets. I don’t know why these guys had decided to get into Wild.
I am now feeling a strong temptation to level up some more Chaos and Untamed cards but I have to control my urge as I know that from next season the $2 Wild entry fee will come back.
It will be wiser to use my limited funds to pick up some good Arcana cards.
Cheers,
Sam
