If you have been playing Splinterlands for a while you would have a good idea what League is comfortable as per your card collections and at what League you start struggling to get that winning streak going.
There was a time not so long ago when I would easily stride into Diamond III then proceed to Diamond II and then face some challenges in Diamond I.
Since Rebellion set got launched I could not build up a big collection due to ever persisting liquidity shortage (which means being chronically poor in the crypto world by picking all the rugs). I saw there were many new players who had stacked up quite impressive collections of Rebellion giving them quite an advantage with those multi-element summoners.
This meant the challenges I used to start facing in Diamond I level were now there in Gold II and for past many seasons I got stuck in Gold I. Whenever I will get close to moving out of Gold I there will be players having all the cards completely maxed out as my opponents.
This situation had a silver lining as well coz it made me creative and come up with new strategies to beat Rebellion legendary cards with my Chaos Rare and Epic cards. In Gold I there are a lot of restrictions on which element you can use. Luckily I have Water, Earth and Fire pretty well levelled up so as long as one of these elements was allowed I had a good fighting chance.
I also put in some extra efforts by consistently taking out 15-20 mins every day last season to put in the daily battles and finally I achieved “Diamond III”. By the time I entered Diamond III the season was almost over but it was a good feeling to enter the prestigious Diamond club after so long. Now the wait continues for a good airdrop somewhere so I can improve my Rebellion collection and hope to enter Diamond II someday.
Getting Lucky with Gladys Pack!
One of my key strategy to get an upper hand on players who have extra cash to grab up the Rebellion Legendaries is building my Gladius cards by brawling regularly. Whenever the mana limit for the battle is high I make sure to use a summoner that allows use of a Gladiator.
You know that the default is getting one rare and rest cards as common. If you are lucky you might pick up an Epic card and need to be super luck to get a Legendary.
This is the reason there are still a few Legendary Gladius cards I have still not managed to pick up. One of them is Flagon Reine which is extremely deadly when the Snipe battle condition is there.
After ages of waiting I finally got Flagulon in the pack I opened and the best part was that I also got 2 Rare as well in the same pack which I had been waiting to level up.
Time to put that Flagulon to use in the new season of Splinterlands.
Cheers,
Sam
