Doctor Who and... blockchain?

Probably most of us remember the British science fiction series in which the main character was a man traveling through time.

Memories came back?

I have good news for you! Dr. Who will go to the game based on blockchain technology.

Dr. Who is back in digital!

As it turns out, soon fans of this popular series will be able to purchase limited packages of blockchain-based trading cards. Each of them will include 5 tokens of unique value (also known as NFT tokens). These items will be placed in the virtual world. Users will be able to collect them, exchange them with other people and play games.

So far, the BBC, which has handed over the exclusive global license to the publisher of mobile games - Reality Gaming Group, tells us little. We know, however, that the sale is expected to start in a few months - more precisely in October this year.

Initially, the game will be launched on PC, and later also on mobile devices.

Fashion for collector tokens

There have already been several posts about virtual items placed in blockchain-based games. As you can see, more and more people want to develop this space. For some users, these types of tokens can have enormous sentimental value. On the other hand, others buy them to earn money by selling them to someone else at a higher price.

There is a lot of evidence that items stored on the blockchain are very popular. Of course, not everyone is convinced of them, standing aside and observing this extraordinary mania. Nevertheless, these types of tokens really sell!

One should stop here for a moment so as not to receive the whole message in a bad way. It is not enough that we put anything in an unchanging register, and the demand will generate itself. It doesn't work that way. For this, first of all, you need a brand and reputation. In the case of Dr. Who was there!

I will give more examples. The NFT tokens were issued by a Canadian actor known for his role as Captain James T. Kirk from Star Trek. And guess what? Blockchain-based trading cards capturing moments from his life sold out in minutes!

It is not enough? How about the works of a popular illustrator who collaborated with the Marvel production company at the turn of his career? These were also supposed to hit the blockchain! There are many similar examples. This in turn shows us how big a role tokens can play in the world of collectors.
