Yes, here in the U.S. we seem to have a holiday for everything. As it turns out, we have a Free Taco Wednesday holiday too. It's not fully advertised because businesses don't want to lose their shirts, but a good number of common chain names are participating. Here's the players according to the street chatter:

• Fuzzy's Taco Shop - I don't recall seeing these guys on the West Coast, but apparently they do exist. Reward members get two free tacos. Non-members get a discount of $1.50/taco all day long.
• Moe's Southwest Grill - Another on the list of, where the heck is that? Clearly, I'm not south enough to be in the Southwest. However, for those who are, Moe's is offering a free (wait for it...) Eggo taco! Um...it's a creative breakfast item of waffle, chicken, bacon, cheese and chipotle. Ought to be an interesting taste medley.
• Taco Bueno - Pretty straightforward deal here. You buy one, you get one. Very American. But you do need to get the Party Taco order specifically. 
• Taco John's - No, we're not talking about John's Pizza. Taco John's is an entirely different outfit offering a free Taco Bravo, but you do need to buy something else with it (so it's not quite free-free). However, the deal does last through all October on Tuesdays versus just one day.
• Rubio's - This is a far more common chain, and Rubio's is offering an a-la-carte taco when you buy something else. Use code TACO if you're putting in your lunch via an app or digital.
• Taco Bell - Who in the U.S. doesn't know what Taco Bell is? They are literally the McDonald's of Mexican-related food (of course, a good number of Latin folks I know refuse to call Taco Bell food). Anyways, they are offering a free taco IF you enroll in their taco Lover's Pass. The pass costs you $10, but you get whopping 8 tacos a day for the next 30 days. Woah. After that you might not eat another taco for a year.
• Del Taco - The other taco fast food chain, Del Taco is throwing Tacoberfest. Every Wednesday folks can get five tacos for $3. \
• Qdoba - Say that name three times fast. Qdoba gives loyalty members big bonus points tomorrow, and at 125 pts you get a free entree. So if you're just about to top out, eat on Wednesday and double your meal. 
• Chuy's - This one takes a bit of effort. You actually need to dress up like a taco. However, if you do on Wednesday, Chuy's will give you a free taco. If online, post a photo of the same, and they will do some sort of freebie coupon, plus you can get another beef taco for $1. They they will show your kids and grandkids the photo again and again on their website.

Always check if your local store or restaurant is participating. Some franchises tend to be party-poopers and don't want to play, which could be a disappointment when you arrive hungry for lunch. Happy Free Taco Wednesday!
