What is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a card game, similar with Hearthstone, where you can play battle against other players to get a better rank or in tournaments. It is a NFT game based on Hive Blockchain, but the crypto rewards (DEC is the name of their native token) can be used on ETH, TRX, WAX and on the lately added Binance Smart Chain (you can provide liquidity to mine CUB on Cub Finance). You can also provide liquidity on ETH network, but this is a bit more expensive, even if you get some Uniswap bonus in DEC paid straight to your game account (I got 3-4000 DEC monthly with around 60K DEC providing liquidity). DEC is similar with a stablecoin, most of the time, 1000 DEC being $1.
And now it is easier than before (one of my main complain was about beginners not having enough cards at the start) because they offer quite a lot of cards not to the one starting to play, making it a more pleasant experience - I remember losing game after game when I just started 7 month ago, so I am glad that the developers sorted this out. There are big changes and improvements coming soon, according to the Hive rumor mill. Splinterlands governance token will start airdrop soon, every day, if i understood correctly, with DEC being the best choice to maximize it, and all the lands from Praetoria are sold now. On this week challenge we have something different, instead of a monster, we got a skill, and the lottery brought us the Retaliate ability. So, I can count 15 monsters with Retaliate skills, and here it is a list of them and at what level the skill is activated:
- Fire - Charlok Minotaur, Exploding Dwarf, Fineas Rage, Cerberus, Serpent of the Flame
- Water - Naga Warrior, The Kraken
- Nature - Nectar Queen, Stonesplitter Orc
- Life - Crystal Jaguar
- Death - Phantasm, Undead Minotaur, Lord of Darkness
- Neutral - War Chaang, Hydra
Now, This ability it has 50/50 chance to be triggered, even if sometime is like every time retaliating, usually not mine, but the opponent one. Useful in all kind of rulesets, especially if you get a higher health on Equalizer.
So, for the challenge, this were the starting conditions:
Mana Limit: 25
Rulesets: Equal Opportunity (all monsters have Opportunity) and Stampede (Trample skill activated every time the monster attacked is killed).
Teams:
Mine - Summoner: Scarred Llama Mage ( +2 Health bonus, Cleanse and most important Last stand for all friendly cards), Stonesplitter Orc as Tank with Retaliate, Chicken as fodder to get hit, Halfling Alchemist in case he can hit some big attack guy to half the damage and the last defender, Kron the Undying, expecially put last to get Last Stand.
Opponent - Summoner: Pyre (extra speed boost), Living Lava as tank, Cyclops, Lava Elemental and Elven Mystic for damage, quite a strange choice, if you ask me.
Round 1: Chicken died first followed by my opponent Lava Elemental, the Alchemist also fell to the enemy might.
Round 2: Elven Mystic died, and my Orc was killed, but not before retaliating with last breath.
Round 3: Kron entered in last stand and killed the remaining 2 enemies with ''one hit, one kill'' move. I've won.
Star of the game?
On the side note, my continuous support for Splintertalk.io is going well, with my SPT tokens number raising at almost a million. 954K of my target of 1000K reached and hopefully the 1 million will be done in one or two months. A bit difficult now as the price went up a lot. All of it is delegated to @monster-curator, as this account is doing a great work curating the best posts on the forum.
