Compound going crazy, and increasing day after day. Hmmm, i am thinking, let's test how this is working out, i am saying.
Phase 1 : Looking to see how this app is working. I find out that i can use a either Metamask or Coinbase Wallet. I try Metamask first. Not enough Eth to pay all the fees. I change to Coinbase wallet. I use the 230 BAT i have in there to supply the market. After 2 failed attempts to supply the market, costing me $0.27 and $0.58, i choose the maximum fee of $1.86 and it is finally working. I have $50 worth of BAT, on the fantastic APY of 22%. After just one day i get 0.0009 COMP (approx. value of $0.13). Not bad, i am thinking, in less than 20 days i get money from the fees back.
Event no.1: Not to my likind, next day voting will change the APY for the most of the tokens, and suddenly BAT will have APY 0.02%. My dreams are crushed.
Event no.2: After another 10 days i have 0.0010 COMP. I decide to pay my dues, take everything out and send the BAT on Celsius, for 8.4% interest. And this will cost me another $0.63 to take the BAT out of the COMPOUND app. And another $0.44 to get 0.0010 COMP (and briliantly sell it for $0.14).
Profit: 0.14-3.78=-3.64 (deficit)
Experience level: solid
Funny enough, even if i lost 3.64 dollars, the BAT value in those 10 days increased from $50 to $62. So, not a total loss, but according to my calculations, due to the ETH network congestion, you need more than $2000 on optimal tokens or stablecoins to make a worthy profit.
So, just because of the fees, i will not experiment too soon on any DEFI platform and i will not do any yield farming, even if i already managed to understand the mechanics behind it.
My next learning project: how to create a sidechain on Horizen network. I have no idea about programming that or anything related to this action. Let's see how this goes.
