Bitcoin and Ethereum were expected to be in the US crypto reserve, people were saying that those two Tokens can be compared to Gold in real life. Let's not forget that Ripple and so forth are American-made projects.

Backing on July 13, 2023, the landmark court clarified the legal status of XRP, determining that XRP isn't considered a security when publicly traded on exchanges, but said it was a security in private sales to institutional inventors. Saying that Ripple was found guilty of violating securities laws in institutional sales and fined $125 million; keep in mind that's an American-made project.

The Crypto industry finally got what it wanted, but instead sparked backlash; not only from finance services but from within the crypto world. Skeptics argue now that it lacks stability, trust and global acceptance needed for a national reserve.

Big wig entities such as American Express have tested or integrated XRP into their payment solutions.

In my own view on how XRP performs, it doesn't require Ripples approval seeing how a large number of validators are third-party institutions that take a larger role in the network's validation process. Little over 30 million tokens are locked in an escrow some say.
