Ultimately, we don’t know for sure how far a human idea can go or how it might affect a system or even an ecosystem, but we do know that the possibilities are almost infinite, because they don’t stem from calculations or mathematical functions, but rather from need and, above all, from incentive. Right? So far, so good? However, what if there were something collaborative that could awaken in your community a sense of creativity, innovation, and everything else needed to energize your community? An app that could connect creators and enthusiasts in one place? Is that possible? Yes… And if you’ve followed my journey as a writer and seen me write several times about Obyte(GBYTE) and its apps; which aim to improve various aspects of users’ daily lives and provide alternatives in the form of initiatives and ideas for everyone in the world of cryptocurrencies, all while adding value... then you’ve found the right project.
And in this article? I’m writing again about Obyte and its newest app, Coop, which aims to: unite, encourage, and energize the community with new ideas and contributions. Even if your idea is simple, your initiative might be rewarded through COOP votes, and you could serve as an example to others with extraordinary ideas and the extraordinary ideas of others might spark your own extraordinary ideas... an endless cycle of evolution. What is Coop, and what do you Need to get Started?
In addition to the introduction above, Coop is more than just the rewards app mentioned in the introduction to connect you with the initiative. In practice, its creation and functionality boil down to a cooperative community of contributors, a driving force that will help Obyte grow in a more concrete and meaningful way. As such, all contributions, whether technical, financial, productive, or even social; will be recognized by members through votes, driven daily and year after year by its token issuance... COOP. Its distribution varies based on the votes received from members; the more votes you receive, the more your work will be valued, and the larger your share of the daily rewards will be. Ultimately, the true goal, beyond the incentive; is to build a practical community that encompasses all levels of knowledge, planning, and financial application. After all, what is the point of a cryptocurrency if it has no utility beyond market appreciation and the mining costs associated with certain projects? Therefore, Obyte is encouraging everyone to join the project and become part of an unstoppable decentralized network.

First, you will need access to an Obyte wallet...

Once you have access to your wallet, you will need to link your address as requested in the app.
Then you deposit and lock up a certain amount of COOP or GBYTE.
-The locked amount serves two purposes: it determines the weight of your votes and influences one of the two components of your rewards. An important detail is that the vote weight is equal to the square root of the voter’s locked balance, which reduces the power of large investors and gives smaller accounts more weight in comparison. The image below is intuitive, but funds remain locked for at least one year, which keeps participants committed to the community over the long term.

First: Link your Obyte address to your Telegram and/or Discord account by clicking the blue “Discord” or “Telegram” link. This authentication allows other members to recognize you in public discussions, so that everyone can connect your contributions to your on-chain identity and vote for you.

Second: This detail is not only important it’s crucial. If you deposit less than 50 COOP(or GBYTE/equivalent), you’ll also need to have your real name verified and you must never reveal your name to anyone except the verification service. Why? This requirement is a safeguard against cheating and enforces the “one person, one account” rule, preventing anyone from inflating their voting power with multiple small accounts.
Why Can Cooperation Make a Difference? Contributions and the Voting Process...
The difference in the cooperative process boils down to the ideals involved in the coop ecosystem, which must be interconnected, where their meanings work together for the greater good. What do I mean? Simple… Let’s analyze the possibilities for contributing to the voting process. But first, let’s be sensible: voting will have no meaning at all if the contribution isn’t necessary.
That’s why the project’s recognition system is based on three segments:
Work: Related to both development (tools, applications, and improvements) and social engagement(articles, tweets, and videos). It’s the seed that drives all initiatives.
Financial: Purchasing and locking up significant amounts of COOP or GBYTE. It is the water for the initiatives… what good is a seed if there is no water(funding) to make it grow?
Curation: It recognizes contributors, encourages voting, uncovers underappreciated work, and fosters healthy discussions. No less important; in fact, the caretaker is the one who tends to the seeds after the water has been poured on them.
What about voting?
- As mentioned above, the weight of your vote is equal to the square root of your locked balance.
- When you vote for someone else, you automatically vote for yourself with a weight of 3 at the same time, so there’s no need to vote for yourself. Besides, it would be strange and very self-centered.
- Votes expire after three months, so contributors need to keep contributing to maintain the income stream. So don’t go thinking your idea and concept are unique. Your “patent” will be recognized for 3 months, and after that, it will no longer be valid(laughs).
*One detail that will likely go unnoticed is that the COOP tokens won’t be unlocked for at least another year. This ensures that participants have a long-term commitment to the community… commitment, not obligation… that’s the key(think about it).
