Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Commander Slade and Coastal Sentry a Fun Combo in Battle

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and to another edition of Social Media Challenge. Today I will be sharing my battle featuring my favorite Water Tank, Commander Slade and the highest dps unit in the Water Splinter, Coastal Sentry.

reimagined Commander Slade and Coastal Sentry

I can't wait to try this combo in battle but because I'm using Kelya as summoner I have to wait for a particular ruleset for this combo to be possible. I know how beefy and dodgy a tank Commander Slade is. He is perfect for the first position. The idea of this combo is to keep the Coastal Sentry in second position as long as possible where she can do massive damage to the enemy tank with her Dual Strike ability and high melee damage output.

Ruleset

We have the "Manuevers" ruleset where all units gain the Reach ability. This is the perfect ruleset for this combo to be possible with Kelya as summoner.

My Team

I picked Commander Slade and Coastal Sentry in positions 1 and 2 respectively. Deep Lurker took the third position while healer and armor repairer Merdaali Guardian took the fourth. In the fifth position I placed another unit with Poison ability and in the last a 0 mana unit.

The Opponent

The opponent has a higher level Kelya but his units were still good for a level 5 summoner. He has my former favorite Water Tank, Diemonshark. In the second position he has Tide Biter who already has the Reach ability so my opponent didn't take advantage of the ruleset by using a Coastal Sentry of his own. The rest of the team are familiar damage dealers but he has no Merdaali Guardian. I was worried of his Djinn Oshannus because magic is Commander Slade's weakness.

The Battle

I made a mistake by placing the Merdaali Guardian in the fourth position instead of third. This allowed my opponent to eliminate her with his sneak attackers and removing my tank healer. I was worried that the opponent will wipeout my tank next after the healer was lost. Fortunately, his Diemonshark got defeated first and the rest followed as Coastal Sentry did her job in dealing damage.

Conclusion

The new reward cards offers possibilities of fun new combinations and strategies that we can try. Some of these may work and some may not but the fun part is being the one to discover new meta combinations that we can add to our arsenal.
