Just a small indie game dev log update,..
Today I've created a crude 'sketch' of what I kind of want the shape of the GUI to look like. For now i've only used a black texture for the borders but I'm probably going to make it look more like metal with maybe a little bit of texture and bevel to give it more depth. But for now I'm happy that it already looks more like a tank window and dashboard. I'm probably going to make the borders thinner but I also remember the claustrophobic effect that the narrow helmet of the 3D Metroid Prime games had on me and how much it put me in the game, so I'm not going to make them too thin.

I've also created an enemy radar today, and I'm pretty happy with that too. I've already noticed that it plays a little bit nicer with the radar showing the enemies clearly in red when they enter the edges of the screen. So I'm glad that it is also useful for the gameplay and not just for the visuals!

Not really sure what I'm going to work on next, there is just too much to do still! Probably going to work more on the maps etc. and overall improvements.
I've been dealing with a lot of Unity bugs lately,..Last year of Unity updates hasn't been fun at all. Today I had a bug preventing my UI changes to stick to the prefab. Normally that just works but today because of this bug i had to duplicate and delete the entire UI canvas before it saved again, for no reason..Took me a while to figure that out. Another bug that's bugging me at the moment is that Unity doesn't load the preview images of the hundreds of level pieces that I have made so i have to click on everything to see what it is! :S
Small advice for new game devs: go for the Unity LTS version and don't update until your game is finished!...

..Really don't!

Cheers!
