My second Share Your Battle is Beatrix Ironhand!
I've never used Beatrix Ironhand, but she is an Epic card from the Untamed Edition set. She has **2 Ranged Attack, 4 Speed, 5 Health, and Close Range** with a Mana Cost of **6**
I've gone ahead and recruited a level 1 one, which has the stats above. I'm not sure how well it will do in my current rank of Gold II, but I am excited to try her out.
As you can see from her stats, she is a fast, bulky ranged attacker that's able to take the slot of a melee attacker, her ability, **Close Range** allows her to attack even in position 1. Depending on the situation this will make her very useful. Please note that at level 3 she gets **Thorns** as well. Making her quite a nasty character to attack!
My ideal line up is one where Melee Units are banned from play, as I think that will be the best conditions for her.
Let's see what ends up happening, as the situation is decided by the RNG gods...
The Battle Ahead
I swear one of these I will win, whenever the RNG gods are called into question, they smite me.
I got 22 Mana and Close Range LOL. So, probably the worst situation for her to be placed in... Basically, EVERY character now has her ability. Woo!
- I chose Wizard of Eastwood, and lined my team the following way:
- Enraged Chicken in slot 1 as a meat shield!
- Ironhand after, as my off tank/damage dealer
- Orc Sergeant, with Reach, to attack from behind
- Goblin Thief, to sneak attack the enemy's backline
- and finally, Wood Nymph, for healing and magic damage.
My opponent played Contessa, which cripples my Ranged damage. Sorry Ironhand...
She plays her team with Phantasm, Dark Astronomer, Creeping Ooze, Undead Archer, Halfling Alchemist & Twisted Jester
Looking at Halfing Alchemist's ability, OH NO I'm SCREWED. Everytime this unit attacks an enemy, the target's attack is halved. This effectively gimps Goblin Thief too once it gets hit...
I didn't even kill a single monster on my opponent's side.
Reflection
Unfortunately, I don't think Ironheart got a fair chance in this matchup, as she was pretty much hard countered by both the Modifiers AND the Summoner chosen by the opponent. I think she will perform better in Bronze league at this level, and so I will make a second follow up post of Ironheart in Bronze, where I think she will shine as a great off-tank! Check that out in a few days, when the season ends and I go back down to Bronze!
