Goblin Psychic

Goblin Psychic is another one of those cards that is clearly one of the strongest Commons in the entire set, you could make this card a Rare, or an Epic, and it would probably still be just as sought after, it's moveset is incredibly powerful and provides an entire kit to Earth, consolidating heals, magic damage, affliction, and silence into a single monster.

First, some info on Goblin Psychic:

THEME Goblin Psychic Edition CHAOS Rarity COMMON Splinter EARTH Attack Type Magic

The Magi Tower is where Goblins go to learn how to use psychic abilities. It isn't just a gift Goblins can learn, but due to the proximity of Gobson, Goblins tend to show up more frequently. The Magi who calls the tower home, enjoys teaching the art of using one's mind to move objects and read thoughts. Goblin Psychics use their abilities to perform work in Gobson or become adventurers and practice to become a full fledged Summoner.

Goblin Psychic is a squishy, slow, magic attacker with healing, he starts at level 1 with 2 Magic, 1 Speed, 3 Health, and Tank Heal.

Level 4, as usual with Commons, is where Goblin Psychic gets a huge buff: Affliction, which will prevent healing from the enemy's healers.

At level 7, he gains Silence, reducing the effectiveness of other magic attackers by 1.

Finally, at level 10, he gains Dispel which removes the positive buffs from other monsters.

His final stats at Level 10 are 2 Magic, 1 Speed, 7 Health, Tank Heal, Affliction, Silence, and Dispel. While his stats are sub-par for a Legendary, his abilities are better than many Legendary monsters' kits!

He costs about $0.33 per BCX in normal foil, and $4.33 per BCX in Gold Foil

**LEVEL COSTS**
Level 4 costs about $10, this is where he gains **Affliction**
Level 7 costs $50, this is where he gains **Silence**
Max Level costs about $120 (based on 1 BCX prices)

*Keep in mind that higher BCX Cards come with discounts, this is the math for purchasing 1 BCX Cards, which you should NOT do if you're planning to level.*

Goblin Psychic is a powerful card on its own: To be frank, your summoner choice does not matter much here... that being said, these are, in my opinion, the best summoners for Goblin Psychic.

Obsidian makes Goblin Psychic an incredibly powerful source of damage early on in Bronze-Silver, but starts to fall off later on, where other cards start to ramp up in magic damage and Goblin Psychic noticeably does not.

Llama is an amazing option, providing additional health, and often being pair in Poison, where you will have a cleanse and heal on your tank. Goblin Psychic becomes more and more useful here, as his additional health, Last Stand, and general survivability scale better as he is leveled. He lacks speed, but he doesn't need it as a Magic Attacker!

Dragons have some other, versatile options:

Delwyn is a given here, it does the same thing as Obsidian, and amplifies Goblin Psychic's offensive presence. Generally speaking, you should always be using Obsidian, but sometimes, certain dragons, like Void Dragon, RDK, etc, might be necessary for your team composition. Delwyn becomes more and more effective as you have more and more mana at your disposal.

Brighton Bloom is probably a weird choice to some, but giving a 1 Speed monster a pretty regular +25% dodge chance against sneak teams is worthwhile to me, and that can add up very fast in allowing Goblin Psychic a little bit more healing and damage to take the win away. This is compounded further by protecting him in a pocket. Bonus points here for Reverse Speed, flying 1 Speed Goblin Psychic defies death, part 1.

Position 3-5
You want Goblin Psychic nestled safely between your monsters, healing from the backline but not all the way in the back: The exception to this is if you're running something like a Spirit Hoarder, who will triage him in the backline and help block off sneak damage if it's not too concentrated. Sure, you might lose to a Sneak comp, but protip: You shouldn't be using Tank Heal monsters to fight off a Sneak Comp anyways, this is just to cover your bases from a more generalist approach.

  1. Armored Up is amazing for Goblin Psychic: You ignore armor, and you're almost guaranteed to survive 1, maybe 2 melee/ranged attacks, what's not to like?
  2. Evens Stevens means Goblin Psychic is here to play.
  3. Reverse Speed is amazing for Goblin Psychic across every league, as he is one of the few monsters that never gains any Speed, and frankly: The most useful with his magic attacking type.

  1. Odds Out means Goblin Psychic is out, since he's an even card.
  2. No Abilities basically makes Goblin Psychic a lesser Magi of Chaos, or a lesser Sporceror. He's still alright, but not great.
  3. Poison: For most leagues, Goblin Psychic does not survive long in Poison without some major support, like Llama, or a Spirit Hoarder/Triage user.

16 Mana, Earth, Water and Dragon Splinters, Reverse Speed and Even Stevens

only won this because of my levels: Notice that my opponent has a Level 4 Summoner, what likely happened is that he rented out most of his cards. If I had fought level 4 Obsidian versions of, well, any one of these cards, I would have likely lost.

We're largely a mirror match, but my Failed Summoner gets in more reflects than his does, still, it was quite close, coming down to Goblin Psychic's heal in the end, clinching the win.

A Level 4 Khmer Princess, a Level 3 Failed Summoner, OR a Level 4 Elven Mystic ALONE would've been enough for me to lose this, so I'll take the battle here against an Immortal Gods member, but I also know that I was fighting him with a hugeeeee handicap...
