So what even is Presearch?

If you've been scrolling about on Publish0x recently, you've probably seen posts and stories about Presearch, be it in the form of the official contest announcement or from contest entries. I decided to immediately install Presearch in Firefox, and this is my honest review.

First impressions:

The engine has a clean nice look to it, and it doesn't overload you with too many options on the main page. The referral link gives you 25 tokens, which is about 2.5 dollars as I write this. I was however slightly disappointed to find out that the minimum for withdrawals is 1000 tokens (roughly 100 dollars at the moment), so you would need to be an active user of the service to ever get something out of it in return.

After some use:

I decided to test out the engine and made some quick searches. It's a bit slower than more common search engines such as Google or DuckDuckGo, but fast enough that you wouldn't get bored or annoyed by the latency. After about ten searches, I had made my first token. Only 974 to go!

Final impression:

In general, I was pleased by the search engine. I didn't really look into the deeper end of it like hosting your own Presearch node, but I'm saving that for a later day. It's nice to be able to switch between search engines for more results, and those engines aren't even limited to traditional ones like Google, since you can use anything from YouTube to Ebay as a search engine depending on what you're looking for. The reward system is nice, and I'm all for the additional privacy.
