We have been here before, but with more time on our hands in the Y2K scuffle the end of the 2nd Millennium (We are in the 3rd according to some made up calendar, but who is counting.)

Small investor Prepping Advice?

Start watching the BTC communtity's progress on this, get comfortable with what will be an upgrade of some sort.

To get comfortable means diving down the BTC rabbit hole of distributed community development and test antics, if you can find them.

Personally, BTC , like ETH is a useful fiat sponge which places that value in a more predictable inflationary set of rules protected for now with really hard encryption.

The other data point to watch is the Quantum Computer # of Qubits and price/Qubit set of metrics spouted bi-weekly these days by the Quantum Computer Vendors.

What ever they are telling you, the numbers are understated, for multiple reasons, some spouting 'guard railed' conservative development approaches, other spouting is not so much about chest pounding who is the best, it's more about which technology is the best, most cost effective and can be produced at sale to lower the  price/qubit cost quickly so these vendors can sell lots of Quantum Computers and makes lots of money in the process. It's what arm's dealer do.

Make no mistake, this is an arm's race.

The nation state with the most Qubits wins? Likely.

Do your homework on Q-Day.

Invest in metals, invest in land and grow a garden, raise some chickens for eggs, new off-spring and the occasional chick dinner( your dog(s) will love you even more for it).  :)

As for crypto, no panic on the BTC Titanic quite yet, just be on the look out for nasty community infighting and lack of progress, both red flags that might be signalling  one to park their fiat store of value elsewhere, where 'elsewhere' needs to be Quantum SAFE.
