AUTONOMI Network : Internet 2.0+ 'For the People' -Paying the People - Wave 1 Beta Report

Autonomi Network: News from the Beta Wave 1 front: 29000 Nodes and growing!

Betas are of course, not for the 'feint of heart'.

June 13th Update - TK up and running with 5 MS Win11 hosted nodes  of the 40,000+ nodes now in operation. :)

June 11th update:-->Autonomi Beta Wave 1 now has 35,000 nodes in operation.  -TK

In Wave 1 of the Autonomi Beta, most of the Linux crowd day 1 on June 5th 2024 were able to use the beta Autonomi node-launchpad successfully to launch their own set of nodes, anywhere from 5 to 20 nodes, with some trying to launch 200+ nodes on bigger hardware.

Right now Autonomi Node count has ballooned from  the last prototype test network of 2,000 nodes  to over 18,000 Beta Wave 1 nodes, in just 2 hours, on the first day, June 5th, 2024.

Got gumption?  Dive in , join the Autonomi Network Beta effort here, there is a waiting list building for Wave 2, with a bit of luck you will get registered via Discord for that wave and start earning rewards which will be converted to Autonomi tokens 1 for 1 in October 2024.

Autonomi node-launchpad: Terminal Window user software under Admin privilege control.

Autonomi node-launchpad 0.3.7

The Autonomi node-launchpad is an incredibly simple software tool to both install and operate.

Heck anyone's granny can do it, if they have some spare disk space they want to share to Quantum Computer Hack Proof protect other's loading their files for a small one time fee up to the Autonomi Network.

Node-launchpad tool uses all of 23.1 MB of RAM to first launch the MS Win11 Terminal window and operates as the 0.37 version in 2.7MB of RAM. (For Linux and MacOS testers you will need to check the Autonomi Discord site and ask some OGs running Linux or MacOS on their home equipment)

To start into Beta testing one must first Download the node-launchpad zip file  for your operating system type from the Autonomi Getting Started page

Unzip the file into a folder of your primary mounted drive or c: drive , then click on the unzipped single file to start the terminal you see above.

Ctrl+G (see above)  adds nodes fetched from a pre-configured server on the Internet, then nodes are added to your system.

In Win11 you must grant the OS as Admin the right to download each node.

Bugs? Of course their are bugs in ANY Beta software!

As is the case with betas, the  Autonomi Win11 Wave 1 beta crowd did run into some early  Beta bugs and,

are now as of June 8th, the MS Win11 Wave 1 Beta testers if Autonomi are just getting a functioning node-launchpad program which now gets their nodes up and running, @moon on Discord announced they saw their first nano show early this morning, courtesy of random file loads from the Autonomi Wave 1 Beta bot uploading files to test the network.

@moon first MS Win11 Wave 1 beta tester to report working nodes receiving nanos?

As with most Betas, this being Wave 1 in particular : Minimal Features, Simple to use

the features of node-launchpad are minimal,

prompting wave 1 beta  "OGs" Original Gangsters of what became the world's longest startup,

to get creative with their work arounds, most all of them 'Linux centric'.

Some of these work arounds I am sure will evolve into built-in features for each of the OS versions WIN11, Linux and MACOS, missing features like selecting the drive  and volume you want to share as medium of Storage in the Autonomi XOR Contents Addressable network are bound to be added in due course, maybe even by Wave 2 Beta.

Autonomi is an overlay XOR network based on Kademlia with significant enhancements added to create a self regulating DAO "Distributed Autonomous Network" which pays node operators who are  randomly assigned by the Autonomi Network receiving files from Autonomi Users paying one time only to load their files to the Autonomi Network for ever, where the receiving nodes getting file chunks to store. Rewards are paid as nanos directly into the node operator's Autonomi wallet, when the network actually launches.

For the time being though, beta tester wallet balances in Wave 1 Beta of Autonomi are balances for their Discord usernames registered for the beta Wave 1 ,  balances that are stored on the DAG Distributed Acyclic Graph distributed ledger of the Autonomi Network and, reported to the Leader board of Wave 1 for all to see, accessed by the beta node operators with the /R command  issued from the node-launchpad.

Autonomi Network Prognosis? Finally injecting  PGP "Pretty Good Privacy" into the existing Internet

Imo the team at Maidsafe launching Autonomi Network have really fixed one of the major flaws of the Internet by injecting in PGP Pretty Good Privacy with a ""your keys, your data"' approach allowing anyone who has their keys to access their data on the Autonomi Network from any systems capable of running the Autonomi 'safenode' client software,

Autonomi also supports peer 2 peer private communications an payments directly without any fees, so its easy to transfer tokens from one Autonomi client to another privately and securely.

The beta test in Wave 1 runs a set of bots which randomly populate the network currently running 18,000+ nodes,

Each node when set up for Wave 1 Beta of Autonomi Network reserves 5 GB of local primary drive data storage capacity.

TK lates 5 Node Install attempt

TK's Journey so far: A Bumpy Road of repeated installs on MS WIN11, which is starting to smooth out..,

Well each day until today since the launch of the Autonomi Network Wave 1 Beta,

in between regular work day efforts,

I attempted twice a day to download and start MS Win 11 node-launchpad for Autonomi network and not surprisingly,

since the early OGs and developers are all Linux types, my attempts to get the MS Win11 version to work failed.

The node-launchpad program  downloaded, unzipped and booted properly, pushed me as the WIN 11 Admin to allow each node to set up 5 times  on my system

and then failed to add any nodes. ;/

TK's Ancient 10thgen i5 8GB RAM 512GB Notebook

TK's Beta test gear: Any old PC will do, running IA64 chips on Linux or MS Win11 or MacOS.

Heck they even have an ARM64 Linux edition for the hardcore Raspberry PI or similar types.

So far I have decided to run an old gen10 i5 Intel Aspire Notebook with 8GB ram and launch 5 Autonomi Network nodes on MS Win11.

That costs me 25GB of my available 136GB space, about 24MB of RAM and on occasion about 1-3% of CPU clock.

Autonomi Network Beta Wave 1 Bug Reporting: Discord Style

Autonomi has set up  three channels for Beta communications with Beta testers

69c8376fa192e4389f99a7d3a0a7d04c77a22b9c71e81f8511f35f894d60a6fb.png

I reported my own problem  first in the beta-support channel and eventually an OG @nic  interacted with me, then we went on direct messaging within Discord and he forwarded info on how to get at  the 'hidden' log files stashed on my machine in the MS WIN11 'default hidden' Appdata folder as reported by the Autonomi node-launchpad program,

Not being a real MS Weenie, I did a search online and eventually found and forwarded the logs in question,  via direct messaging to @nic who promised to deliver the info to the Maidsafe Dev Team  handling the core development of Autonomi. This activity happened later on June 6th generated by the Autonomi version 0.36 node-launchpad program installed on my system. Kudos to OG @nic for jumping on this quickly. :)

I took a quick look at the logs and also at the  read/write privileges of the running programs  associated with node-launchpad, suffice it to say, not being a Windows Weenie, I did not spend another second on it...

Next Step in the Debug Journey, one day later: Time for MaidSafe Dev to get 'BugFix' Commercial?

It was later on  June 7th I noticed there was an Autonomi Network new version 0.37 node-launchpad release mentioned in the Discord general-chat channel, so I am trying that now, which hopefully results in a successful 5 node install of the Autonomi Network on my machine. Maybe my problem is fixed, maybe it isn't, we will see, as there is still no word via Discord DM or in the Autonomi Community Forum itself

I bit 'loosey goosey'  in the bug reporting department imo, as there was no really closed loop process to get closure on what was obviously a bug with the MS WIN11 Autonomi Network node-launchpad software release 0.36.

Maybe its me, cuz I'm and old school developer, but this bug reporting method is something Maidsafe needs to tighten up so reports of problems don't fall through the cracks, inevitably delaying the release of the network, and Beta Testers get a tracked response on their reported issue/bug incident.

SOTU June 8th, Beta Wave 1 - TK's MS WIN11 'Excellent Adventure'

I just noticed early  today on the Beta Channel of Autonomi Discord Server, per the reference above that @moon successfully launched their Win11 10 node setup,

so I m hopeful  today my nodes, now  currently just reset  with the 0.37 version of the latest node-launchpad update will do same.

Given I am hard core Linux geek who doesn't dabble much or at all anymore in MS Win11 land for development, you could say I am good beta test subject 'with an edge'.  ;)

As of this moment though, not having a confirmed fix back from Maidsafe dev, its felling 50/50 to me that the new update may/may not work. :|

I will keep you all posted.

Real Launch When?: Autonomi Network Coming this Fall,

October 2024 is the official launch date to start earning real Autonomi tokens which can be used to pay for one time upload of data to the Autonomi Network, truly Internet 2.0 with the promise of creating Web3 apps which are truly secure peer 2 peer solutions.

The Maidsafe team and OGs behind Autonomi, led by Scot David Irvine have, to put it bluntly, TITANIC endurance and, based on the early Wave 1 beta node count growth, fueled largely by Linux nerds jumping in to run nodes,

are now finally,  well on their way to fixing the Internet!

Kudos to them all, and to those brave Beta Wave 1 souls who have returned or jumped in a new to boot the Beta network of Autonomi!

It's important to note that the newly established Autonomi Foundation has done a nice 'set-aside' of for those OGs and recent returnees and newbies that are now helping with Beta Wave 1. The set-aside also applies to the next and subsequent Beta Wave 2 and so on, to get more people to help grind out the bugs for rewards!

The current Beta nanos earned by Wave 1 and subsequent Wave Autonomi Network beta testers for storing test file chunks generated by the Autonomi Network bots uploading files randomly across the XOR CAN  are in fact,

convertible to native 'yet to be named' tokens this fall when Autonomi Network get's launched in October of 2024.

These tokens will be used right away to upload files, paid once to on the Autonomi Network for ever,  where your uploaded files will always be accessible forever, via your keys, files that are always kept Quantum Computer Hack proof safe.

One can get in early by buying into eMAID, which is fully convertible 1 for 1 to the new Autonomi Token (as yet un-named and not yet announced officially). The current eMAID (ERC20) price is about 65% of Maidsafe's all time high at US $1.17 the last I looked today, which imo as a peak record  'Maidsafe' Market Cap will get rapidly eradicated as 100s of 1,000s of people interested in privacy quickly see how easy it to get their privacy back via Autonomi not only for file storage online, but also for peer 2 peer communication and feeless wallet to wallet transfers.

The Cryptosphere  'sea of projects'  imo, in many cases, would do well to consider re-hosting their own cryptocurrency projects on top of the Autonomi UDP/TCP XOR CAN in a 100% distributed fashion with built in 'triple encrypted' Quantum Computer Hackproof PGP.  To get this really work, it probably also means employing EDA Event driven Architectures to distribute project safely in HA form all over the place from cheap colo cages.

When this Autonomi Network MSWIN11 node-launchpad BET Wave 1 install get's working for me it will have been worth the very, very, very long wait. ;)

That's all for now,

I will report back in two weeks time with my latest report of progress in Beta Wave 1 for the Autonomi Network.

TK over and out ;)
