WAX Makes it as Intuitive and Simple as Sending an Email
Spreading love is so easy
Because you’re reading this on P-0x, you’re already a collector of cryptocurrencies. At the time of publication, the site pays all active members in $BAT, $ETH, and $LRC.
And most likely, your assortment of cryptocurrencies extends far beyond the tip-based currencies on offer here.
But explaining bitcoin or ethereum or other coins to skeptics within your inner circle is probably met with sideways glances and rolled eyes. Those who inherently trust fiat quickly dismiss crypto as Internet funny-money.
Granted, most cryptos and the exchanges they trade on are big bags of disingenuous pus. But that’s to be expected within any burgeoning industry. It’s still the Wild West out here!
That said, we’ve come far since the emergence of bitcoin. Use cases abound, and the rise of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) is beginning to force shady exchanges out of business.
Who needs KYC, arbitrary withdrawal fees, fake volumes, and wash trading when you can just use a decentralized exchange (DEX)?
Now, one of the significant drawbacks to getting started in the blockchain space is the hassle of self-custodial wallets. No, it’s not overly difficult to copy and paste a long string of letters and numbers. But the process is nonetheless daunting for crypto newcomers.
And that leads us straight into what I’ll share with you today …
Putting Your Cryptocurrencies in Motion
Staring at a balance on a screen may be exciting — especially if you’re enjoying 10x gains from where you began.
Yay, charts!
But unless you’re an active trader, it doesn’t take long to get bored. Do you open your banking app and stare at the balance for hours at a time? Nope!
You see, one particular type of crypto can be much more interactive. And in case you haven’t guessed, I’m referring to non-fungible tokens, also known as NFTs …
What Are Non-fungible Tokens?
Unlike traditional cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin and ethereum, NFTs are not interchangeable.
NFTs are unique, each stamped with a tamper-proof, blockchain-authenticated ID number.

And, as I’m sure you’ve already guessed, they’re capable of doing much more than just sitting in your wallet.
NFTs can have varying levels of rarity. Again, unlike bitcoin and its offspring, non-fungible tokens have a more profound and rewarding user experience — beyond monetary gains.
That said, plenty of NFT holders have acquired small fortunes from trading these non-interchangeable assets.

NFTs are not only unique, but they also have special powers that ‘regular’ cryptos can’t touch. I’m sure you can imagine the implications for the healthcare and personal identification industries. NFT-powered passport, anyone?
But even more exciting than doubling as digital collectibles, NFTs operate as currency inside blockchain-based video games. Now, in-game currencies are far from new.
However, the critical difference is that when you hold an NFT, you posses its value. Instead of residing on a centralized game server, your NFT — and the in-game value it represents — lives inside a digital wallet under your control.
Here, let me show you what I mean …
Gas-free Blockchain Transactions
I’ve been walking around the blockchain for nearly three years, and needless to say — but I will anyway — I’ve used my fair share of crypto wallets.
And I recently discovered the undisputed champ of simplicity, the WAX Cloud Wallet.
Blockchain wallets can't get much simpler!
Three items genuinely stand out compared to wallets I’ve used in the past. For starters, setup is a breeze. As you can see in the image above, wallet owners can log in via a plethora of social outlets — Discord, Facebook, Reddit, etc. — in addition to the all-familiar email and password.
Secondly, wallet addresses are short and super-simple to remember.
Your WAX Cloud Wallet (WCW) address may read as such: 2easy.wam
Yes, you read that right. Only five characters followed by .wam, and you’re in business!
You may have to disable your popup blocker if using Brave — WCW works well with the Chrome browser.
And unlike the Ethereum blockchain, WAX handles gas fees on users’ behalf. I won’t mention specifics, but one trade on the Uniswap DEX set me back $10 in $ETH!
This never occurs on the WAX Blockchain
That’s not the case on WAX, however. I’ve conducted over 300 transactions on the WAX Blockchain and have yet to pay for a drop of gas. That said, you may eventually run out of resources, in which case you can top them up for less than 0.5 $WAXP — not even USD $0.03.
KOGs 1st Edition NFTs
One week ago, genesis packs of KOGs went up for sale on the WAX Blockchain.
The game's creators are headquartered in Vietnam
Although there’s no blockchain video game attached just yet, these KOGs — Keys to Other Games — are now freely trading on the open market.
In case you're not familiar with the first use case, does the circular shape remind you of a physical game? Perhaps from your childhood? Yes, that’s right. It’s POGs!
But this time around, your Slammers and discs are digital and immune to damage.
KOGs on WAX is the first release in a series of upcoming games. Sure, you can attempt to collect all 3,414 KOGs variations, but these NFTs also unlock tournaments, in-game items, and access to special events.
Time will show us the games we’ll see in the future, but KOGs the video game is on the near horizon.
You can catch a quick glimpse of the gameplay in this 1-minute clip:
Once you own an NFT, it’s yours.
Also, keep in mind that these are 1st Edition pieces. Once the games begin to launch and people start playing for keeps and using the NFTs to enter tournaments and purchase in-game items, prices may go up. We’ll see.
And if you want more KOGs, they’re readily available across multiple marketplaces …
How to Collect 1st Edition KOGs
Including the Slammers, the KOGs collection features 112 different designs, each with various borders and four levels of rarity — Uncommon, Common, Rare, and Ultra-Rare.
Looking at these NFT’s borders puts them in the ‘Uncommon’ category, and they’re all part of the same set:

The theme of every set in the 1st Edition is clearly defined:

Although AtomicHub makes collecting easy, bagging all 3k+ is extremely difficult.
But rather than going all in, here’s how to collect specific sets:
- Decide which of the 112 designs you like best. Fair warning if you prefer the ‘8 Ball’ or ‘Satoshi’ Slammers — prepare to spend some serious $WAXP.
- Look at the different border options to see which goes best with your favorite design(s).
- Buy or trade NFTs on AtomicHub, or other secondary markets.
If you see one in the marketplace that catches your eye, hover over it to reveal all its details. Quickly check the mint number, rarity, border type, and more:

Now, to buy KOGs, you’ll need $WAXP in your WAX Cloud Wallet. Unsure how to get some? If you’re willing to pay a fee and live outside the U.S., you can use MoonPay from within your WCW by clicking the ‘Buy WAX’ button.
But if you’re in the U.S. or refuse to deal with MoonPay’s fees, here’s how to get some extra $WAXP:
How to Put $WAXP in Your WAX Cloud Wallet
One cool feature of AtomicHub and other WAX marketplaces is seamless integration with your WCW. In other words, you won’t even need to signup with AtomicHub — you merely auto-sync your WCW.
You can even view and sort your entire KOG inventory within AtomicHub!
And if you happen to grab an unopened pack, use the Chrome browser and head over to Kogsunpack.io to reveal the contents.
Community Resources
Although it’s only been a week, KOGs on WAX has a very active, international community of collectors and gamers.
Here’s a cheat sheet for all the color variants, created by the super-helpful WAX expert, Anders ‘coachbjork’ sw/eden:
Look for Anders (@orcus) on Discord and Telegram
And if you’re looking for a spreadsheet to track your collection, the community created that, too.
Here’s a handy Google Docs file and you’re free to save a copy on your computer:

Wrapping Up
Cryptocurrencies and NFTs are redefining how the world exchanges value. And when your cousin Randy or aunt Sally presses you for a viable use case, point them to the simplicity of the WCW.
The point of crypto isn’t to overthrow the current monetary system — we needn’t be on the offensive. Crypto and gov’t-printed paper can coexist, and ultimately, the market will judge the popularity contest.
Send your friends and family their first cryptoasset and turn those no-coiners into coiners. Perhaps your associates like dogs or snowboarding or tennis or unicorns — those are all available KOGs designs you can send as a token of friendship.
