Crypto: What is Cosmos (ATOM), an ecosystem for blockchains

By LeftFooted | bitcoinea | 29 Dec 2023

Cosmos is an ecosystem for the development of interoperable blockchains.

Some people use the term 'Layer 0' for Cosmos, in that this a Layer 0 blockchain on top of which Layer 1 blockchains can be built.

Cronos, Kava, Osmosis and ThorChain, for example, are built on Cosmos.

Cosmos actually call themselves the 'Internet of Blockchains'.

Cosmos is powered by its native cryptocurrency called Atom, which, by the way, is one of the best, or certainly my favourite, cryptos to stake on-chain, away from CEXs.

ATOM is currently trading at $11.37 per coin, down from its ATH of over $44 and surprisingly closer to its all-time low of $6.6.

There's no max supply with ATOM by the way.

The current circulating supply, and theoretically total supply, is 380.776 million ATOMs.
