Refereum - Hub relaunch

Refereum ($RFR) is a "rewarded marketing platform" which seeks to reward influencers in the gaming industry for promoting games. Game enthusiasts can earn $RFR tokens by streaming videos on twitch and watching other people's streams. Its been around for a couple of years now, but it has just relaunched, with a rather nice streamlined hub with embedded twitch feeds to allow access to games. Crypto and gaming have a natural affinity - people are used to collecting in-game currency which makes the basis of the token economy intuitive to those who game, and the recent sucess of Enjin demonstrates that tokens in this industry have a great deal of potential.

To promote the hub relaunch, they are offering a rather generous bounty program where participants can earn up to 25K $RFR, for streaming and watching streams of a range of games including Minecraft, Sea of Thieves and Magic: The Gathering, among others as well a the usual social media tasks more traditionally associated with bounty programmes.

This direct bounty programme sits alongside a number of their more usual promotion offerings. Dead By Daylight, an asymmetric survival horror game is currently using the platform as a promotion tool, offering up to 2.5K $RFR as a top participation prize, while Apex Legends, a battle royale game, is also using the platform but has chosen to offer their rewards in $USD, with up to $150 available to the top participant together with a $50 in-game credit. Refereum has also just partnered  with an individual Twitch streamer, D Rich, who becomes their first direct partnership with an individual influencer, a trend that may well grow as games influencers seeks to promote their streams  Its not just individual games and influencers tho, who are interested in the possibilities that Referendum brings.  The Los Angeles Game Hub and Portland Game Hub are also promoting themselves through the site.  Given that the hub only relaunched on 4 days ago if this level of participation can be sustained, refereum will become an important platform for games promoters seeking to demonstrate their latest creation, and game influencers seeking to draw a crowd.

Although Refereum's main target is and has always been games, several others have found the platform useful as a promotional device.  While their old incarnation had a section for crypto projects that they were partnered with, the new relaunched hub seems far more games focused, so it may be that they have decided to concentrate on their core market, or alternatively that crypto projects are waiting to see if this new relaunch is one which would bring them strategic benefits in a partnership.  In the meantime, there are still some crypto projects that are using the refereum platform to run their bounty programs, including Biido (a trading platform), Nexybit (a global mining exchange) and Tokoin (a platform for developing strategic business partnerships.

Refereum is currently sitting at the mid 300s in the coinmarketcap rankings; hoverring around 50 satoshis, with about 2/3 of its total supply of 5bn tokens currently in circulation. The marketing budget for high profile games is as enormous, by leveraging influencers and encouraging gamers to engage with the gameplay through twitch demonstrations, and twitch streamers are themselves seeking to grow their influence, profile and revinue. Whether refereum can capture this utility, and feed it into the value of the token remains to be seen, but certainly the relaunched hub is very clear, user-friendly and is a distinct step forward for this interesting project.
