Why Laszlo’s Pizza Still Matters in the Age of BCH and TRIBE

The 10,000 BTC Pizza That Changed Everything

Fifteen years ago, Laszlo didn't know that those pizzas he bought using 10,000 BTC that he mined could today be worth more than $1.1B, but he knew that his action was about to change the way people deal with their money.

That first publicly known transaction made using Bitcoin to buy something that people needed was the first ever to be exchanged for a product that is essential to human life. Laszlo made a commercial use of Bitcoin and since that day, the world has never been the same. Today, each same day of the year, people all over the world celebrate the first commercial use of Bitcoin by buying and eating a slice of pizza and making conversations about it.

Was It a Loss? Not Really.

Some still think Laszlo spent a lot of Bitcoin on those pizzas, but the truth is that he bought something that, at the time, fed him and his family—and that was enough for him. At the time, those Bitcoin served as a means to exchange for a good and actually served their purpose. Of course, today we can make calculations saying he spent billions of dollars on pizza, but that isn't totally true.

At the time, no one knew that Bitcoin would be valued at actual market prices or that his action would be worldwide known. Fortunately, Bitcoin gained recognition and became the most underrated asset in the world, beating even the old financial siblings such as gold to become the number one favorite by the masses on many fronts. Those fronts today opened many ways to use decentralized money and became the pillar of many societies and people.

People became their own bank and started to store their money in a non-custodial manner, recovering their power and using their electronic money the way they choose and will. For me, the most important step that action from Laszlo brought was to reinforce that people need a decentralized economy and a currency that serves that purpose.

Bitcoin Cash: Money for the Masses

Bitcoin Cash is the one serving the masses and used in many economic fronts to power up normies and give them back the freedom they so much fight about. BCH is money, and Laszlo did on his first Bitcoin transaction a discovery for humanity—that people only need to rely on themselves and not on the government. From that period until today, Bitcoin Cash remains the backbone of financial stability, empowers people's financial decisions, and opened the large world of DeFi using CashTokens.

Electronic money needs decentralized finances to empower people in ways that they never imagined and help them free themselves from the enslavement they are facing from the government.

The TRIBE Project Gets a New sibling

It is in this spirit, associating the first Bitcoin public goods acquisition and the development of the CashTokens, that today I am proud to announce that my TRIBE project also got a new makeover. Yes, a new and improved reward token for creators on BCH with just 1,000 tokens called TRIBE Reloaded, with the ticker TRIBE1K, is out.

I released this token after an unusual week in which I had some issues—not me properly, but the network—with the original TRIBE token. I could not see anything, neither on TokenExplorer nor Salemkode Explorer after the Velma upgrade. I got lost and contacted all the devs I know to solve this, and no one could tell me what was happening. But fortunately, the glitch or bug was miraculously solved, and today I woke up seeing the appropriate description on both services.

Rewarding the Community

So, to address the issue and to apologize to my supporters and holders, I airdropped the new TRIBE1K token to all holders who had some TRIBE in their wallets at the snapshot time. This isn't the first drop, as I also sent some SpinachCoin (SPC) to all TRIBE holders as a sign of appreciation for their support. Some also got the TRIBE Honors NFTs,which are also a TRIBE product. TRIBE isn't just passing by, but coming to reinforce creators' gains in the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem.

If creators bring value to BCH, they are entitled to earn TRIBE as long as they follow all the rules and also publish their content on the dedicated channels to submit their work. It's not that complicated, and I am a little bit disappointed that only one creator submitted his piece and got rewarded with some TRIBE. So, I urge all interested to join our socials to be able to earn some TRIBE and together help the ecosystem grow.

Creators and Investors: Get Involved

I particularly value all the people's input on TRIBE, and if it brings value, it will definitely get rewarded. Join the TRIBE to earn tokens staking BCH content. Investors earn drops for their support and help to improve liquidity on Cauldron and also by buying TRIBE tokens on Tapswap. We are watching addresses and regularly send some rewards to those addresses that are supporting us.

Get your role as investor or as creator and be sure that you will earn TRIBE for doing so. Support, create, earn, and let's together build something meaningful on the BCH ecosystem. Don't forget that Laszlo was just an entrance into the world of DeFi we are seeing today—as without use case, no chain can survive and get adopted. Support TRIBE.
