Why On-the-Ground Tools Matter for Bitcoin Cash Adoption

There are tools that only make sense when we use them on the ground. In the paper everything looks easy, but when you are in front of someone that never used a wallet, never did a QR code scan, and everything sounds suspicious to him that involve “internet”, the conversation change its tone completely.
Who works with Bitcoin Cash in countries like Mozambique knows this. Here, doesn't matter if you arrive with beautiful speech about decentralization if the person can't receive his first payment without worry that it could fail.
Was in this concept, and not in theory, that I started to give real attention to Cashstamps.
Many times when I speak about BCH people listen. They even agree, feel that as an interesting topic, make questions. But when the practical moment arrive, everything stop, and questions start to emerge:
“Do I need to download an app?”
“And if I lose my phone?”
“All of that won't consume my internet data?”
“And if I click wrong?”
I have seen many people gave up right there, not because they don't see its importance, but because there are too many steps. And it's here when we understand that onboarding isn't teaching, is removing barriers.
And, Cashstamps does exactly that.
How Cashstamps Simplifies Bitcoin Cash Onboarding

Cashstamps is easier for those who look at it from outside, but for those who live the local reality, it solves something huge — allowing giving BCH to someone without asking anything in exchange.
You create a voucher, load it with Bitcoin Cash that generate a QR payment and deliver it. The receiver do the scan and get the BCH. Just like that, easy, without complications, sign-ups, without long explanations. First they receive, then they ask the questions.
And that small detail changes everything.
For example, here in Mozambique when someone receive something, first their posture change. They are more opened to chat, and the curiosity comes up. The conversation is smooth, and the person look at his phone to check the balance and ask:
“So this is mine now?”
That moment worth more than thousand words.
And at that moment Bitcoin Cash stop being a distant idea and become something concrete, that a person has and control. It isn't a promise or a speech, but experience.
I use and see Cashstamps as a bridge. A bridge between who already understand BCH and who is outside the ecosystem. It isn't a tool to “explain Bitcoin”, is a tool to break the ice.
In my latest Meetup I didn't used Cashstamps, but I will on my next one, because if I had them, I could say to my members:
“Just scan this”
After that scan, I could have seen smiles, the surprise on their faces, then the questions. The natural order of things would come up. A person want to learn because he already has something in hands.
P.S.: Next meetup will be loaded with Cashstamps, as I want to see those beautiful smiles and lot of questions.
Onboarding Bitcoin Cash at the People’s Pace

Same thing happens with merchants or youngsters. Many don't want theory, they want to see it working. With Cashstamps, they see that. And later they worry about understand, how to store, send, and spend.
It is onboarding in the people's rhythm, not in ours.
When we speak about decentralized economy, sometime we forgot that it started with small gestures. A QR code delivered, a symbolic value gifted, a chat without pressure.
Cashstamps doesn't solve all the BCH problems, but solve one of the most important: the first contact. And without that first contact, nothing happens.
Like I am building my house step by step, without mistakes, adjusts, and patience, BCH adoption takes its time. There are no shortcuts. There are the right tools for the right moments.
For me, Cashstamps is:
-
A simple human and practical tool for those ones that everyday are trying to show that Bitcoin Cash works in real-life, including here in Mozambique.
And sometimes, all what a person need to start is to receive first.
