Splinterlands - Unlocking rewards through advancing in the next competitive Tier

By Behiver | behiver | 9 Oct 2024

I was playing actively in Splinterlands, battle after battle, sending forceful warriors on the battle to make their names... everything was chaotic, the energy was out of this world, but in a moment of silence some words were whispered: "Congratulations Battle Mage. You have proven your mastery of the elements. Your formidable Power and keen sense of strategy has earned you a place in the next competitive Tier. With that honor comes even greater Rewards!". And these words changed everything, they changed my destiny in the Splinterlands.

Upon advancing to a new Tier, I was greeted with the quoted message and by showing what rewards I am entitled to get because of that. The reward chests were presented as a prologue of what's to come when I will open them.

Next, I get to choose what Potion I want to use when opening rewards chests. Finally, the potions have again a more generic use in the game as previously I was simply not using them for anything. I left the default option to use all the potions that I have based on the rewards chests given.

After that the real action starts to happen. First all the rewards chests were shown on the screen and after that, one by one, I've started opening them. And guess what? I even got a Gold Legendary if you can believe it!

To tell you the truth the Rewards Chests brought back the excitement of the unknown which I was quite missing in the game. Getting rewarded as you progress in the game gives you a boost to continue playing, so I consider it a good mechanic with positive impact in the game. Such incentives and mechanics should continue to be added to the game as these are the ones that make players spend more time in the game. That and usability, letting the earned assets be tradeable and not stuck in the game. A free market is what emphasizes a blockchain game, without that we are back to traditional gaming. In conclusion, praise Splinterlands for adding back the Rewards Chests in a more active way!
