I will not sugar coat it and I will just say it: the 2,000 DEC Wild Pass is a pain in the ass. Why should I have to pay this fee to play when I already paid in the past card sale packs? I am not a cow to be milked at any corner and I don't thing this is the right attitude towards the OG players. And I don't have infinite pockets to simply keep on investing in the new edition cards when Splinterlands team is not even capable to improve the tokenomics from here. This might be a joke for some, but reaping the honest work is simply not right. Enough is enough! Splinterlands should have a deep dive into what's doing here and what's not working.
I understand that players need to put the shoulder to support this game, but what about Splinterlands to solve at least the tokenomics in order for this game to have any financial sense. As a play2earn game on the blockchain that should be solved, otherwise this starts to become a traditional game that lost its angle and evolution to the others. I am a single voice and I wanted to shout about this and hopefully if somebody reads this, maybe will start truthfully thinking about the game tokenomics and what's driving it down. We simply need to understand from where the problem comes and try to solve it once and for all. There are many ways on how Splinterlands can improve tokenomics without taxing the players, so here are few ideas in that direction.
Limit new card editions and inflation
Too many new cards flood the market and hurt old ones. Slowing down the release cycle will help keep value in what we already own. I understand that Splinterlands need to have a revenue stream, but nowadays cards started not to be an asset anymore with all the edition cards out there...
Redistribute value to OG players
Give a percentage of new revenues back to long-time supporters. This would show support and keep them engaged in the long run. Or have some promotions for them or any other creative idea to consolidate the player's base.
Rework DEC and SPS utility
Instead of charging fees, give DEC and SPS real use in the game loop. Let players earn perks, boosts, or advantages through gameplay, not just spending. Also, do some burning for SPS in order to lower the supply which is crazy high.
Cut costs before taxing the base
The team should look into what can be optimized internally. Cut the fat from operations instead of putting it all on the OG players’ backs. Incentivizing only new players is not sustainable.
Bottom line, I think that us as players we’re not here to be drained at every turn. We’re here because we believed in Splinterlands and what it could become. Fix the base, reward the loyal, and let the game earn our investment, not just ask for it. This is the way to sustainable and for a brighter future. I hope this will echo within the Splinterlands realm and we'll see better tokenomics in the future. Roger out!
