Steem Witnesses Freeze Steemit Stake To Block Tron

By Scott Cunningham | Tech And Things | 28 Feb 2020

The Steem witnesses recently came to a consensus that Steemit and it’s related accounts’ stake will be “freezed” and prevented from doing several operations to protect the health of the Steem blockchain from Tron.

Due to uncertainty and talk of a token swap, the witnesses felt that Justin Sun acquiring Steemit with 70 million+ in Steem stake was a concern given that Steemit’s “ninja-mined” stake was only ever meant to develop Steem and not involve in any governance.

Yesterday I posted about the Steemit acquisition and a few users on Twitter made me aware that this had happened and wanted to make a video on it.

This is the announcement from the witnesses regarding freezing the stake: https://steemit.com/steem/@softfork222/soft-fork-222

This was Justin Sun’s response: https://steemit.com/steemit/@justinsunsteemit/open-letter-to-steem-community

Do you think Tron is going to hinder or help Steem? Were the witnesses too hard or in the right? Was Justin’s response genuine or to save face? Let me know what you think about this in the comments below and don’t forget to subscribe!
