Hello Alien Art - FanArt

Hello Alien Art - FanArt

By soyernesto | Art Diary | 7 Jan 2025

Communities are definitely the backbone of Hive, creating relationships of interest and support. Being part of an engaged community is extremely important for the future of Hive and our personal journey.

For these reasons, I have decided to regularly create different fanart of the communities I belong to and publish in. This will be the first of many and I have decided to start with Alien Art, where I have shared illustrations before. I will try to humanize (or " alienize") them by creating illustrations or other formats related to the community.

For Alien Art, I decided to create a chibi and, of course, what better idea than an alien. But not just any alien, one that likes to draw and create, always accompanied by his pencil. I decided on this style because I like kawaii things and it's a drawing style that I want to explore and perfect more.

To begin, I started as usual with a pencil sketch, without many details, starting with circular and rounded shapes, the deep black eyes of a being from another galaxy, antennae, small pointed ears and, finally and strangely, what I found most difficult was his pencil.
I wasn't looking for a perfect drawing, but I wanted to have all the elements of the composition so that, when it came time to do it digitally, it would be more fluid and simple. From the first moment, I decided, to make my work easier, to use symmetries for the alien, dividing the body in two equal parts.

I would like to leave you with a video of the rough sketching process.

After finishing the sketch, I use editing programs to look for symmetry and correct small errors and some details.

With the details corrected, I am ready to take it to digital. One of the processes I enjoy the most is the choice of the color palette. I decided for pastel colors, approaching neon and the use of gradients for the lights and shadows. I leave you with the process.

Here is the final result and some variations. Feel free to use the images I’ve created as you see fit, although I would appreciate being given credit where possible.

If you have made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read and see my final drawing. As always, it has been a pleasure to share with you my process and I would like to read your opinions in the comments.

Best regards and best wishes, see you in the next post.
