“At Google Cloud, we’re providing secure and reliable infrastructure for Web3 founders and developers to innovate and scale their applications,” James Tromans, Engineering Director, Web3 at Google Cloud, said. “We look forward to bringing the dependability and scalability of Google Cloud to power Web3 applications on Tezos.”
This is obviously huge news for Tezos. What catches our attention even more is that Google is doing this after working with Ethereum and Solana. If ETH and SOL were so wonderful and perfect, then why hasn't Google gone all in on them?
There was also recent news showing the California DMV using Tezos for a program to help manage vehicle registration operations:
Seems like as Ethereum, Solana, and other chains aside from Bitcoin continue to flounder and/or under-deliver, Tezos keeps chugging along and improving.
To recap, notwithstanding market chaos and volatility, we have been consistently projecting that the world will move past this obsession with copycat chains and ultimately settle on 1-2 L1s or perhaps 2-4 of them. That said, we see BTC taking 85%+ of the overall market over time with one other chain perhaps taking a 10% or so slice.
Tezos works now and is very easy and rational to upgrade without forks and cult wars. Tezos is easy to use and cheap to use and already has strong use cases and tools to display those such as Tezotopia and Quipuswap. Clearly there is massive demand for smart contracts, Defi, GameFi, etc. Although Bitcoin will play a role in those spaces as well, no doubt it trails other chains currently in some respects. Just keeping it simple folks. Tezos works and fits now, and our view is that the market and the ecosystem will shift towards it and away from Ether and all its copycats.
