Hello friends

They stand so close to each other and yet many years separate them.
The first Octavia was launched in Mladá Boleslav in 1959.
But why the Octavia? The Latin word "octavia" means eighth. At the time, it was not only the brand's eighth model to emerge after World War II, but also its position in the development line of the modern generation of vehicles with independent all-wheel suspension since the first type in 1933.
At that time, the OCTAVIA range brought not only attractive, flowing shapes and excellent handling characteristics, but also a higher level of ride comfort and handling thanks to coil springs and a torsion stabilizer on the front axle.
The Octavia also celebrated a number of racing successes, for example, between 1961 and 1963 the OCTAVIA TS achieved a hat-trick in its class at the Monte Carlo Rally. Or the Skoda Octavia's class victory in the 4,000-mile rally from Montreal, Canada to Vancouver in 1962, as well as in the Shell 4000 Rally in 1963.
The last OCTAVIA COMBI car left the race in Kvasiny on 21 December 1971. A total of 360,000 ŠKODA OCTAVIAs were thus built between 1959 and 1971, including more than 54,000 estate versions.
