The mystery of the Great Pyramid of Giza

The Enigmatic Mystery Of The Great Pyramid Of Giza

There is probably nothing else more enigmatic on Earth than the Great Pyramid at Giza, located in Cairo, Egypt. The structure continues to baffle scientists, geologists, precision machinists, mathematicians and of course, archeologists. The pyramid gives all sorts of clues, hidden in its dimensions, weight and even core temperature, that whoever managed to built this monument not only had strong mathematical and construction skills but also possessed detailed knowledge of the (mapping of the) Earth, sun, moon and even the Milky Way.

Of the 'Seven Great Wonders' of the ancient world, only the Great Pyramid remains. It has withstood sand storms and earthquakes, although it has suffered some damage as a result. An earthquake in the 14th century knocked the outer limestone casing blocks loose, most of which were used to build local mosques. Before this time, when the pyramid was intact, it was said to glimmer like a jewel in the sunlight instead of blinding eyes as we would see in some high rise glass buildings.

Modern mega-construction planners barely give consideration to the fact there's a huge ball of fire that appears in our sky every day and fail to incorporate its trajectory, which changes with the seasons, into their designs. Some skyscrapers have been known to melt cars by their reflection of sunlight at certain times of the day. If designed properly, great amounts of energy could be saved from heating costs.

The builders of the Great Pyramid gave careful consideration to the positioning of the Sun, Earth's latitude and longitude, True North in its construction. Even where the pyramid sits relative to Earth's landmass is a great mystery. There are those today who claim they've got it all figured out. It was built by slaves in dynastic times 4,500 years ago with rocks and copper chisels in 23 years.

Mathematicians have thrown that theory out the window by calculating how many blocks there are compared to the time it took to build the structure and they figured a stone would have to be laid down every 2.5 minutes, non-stop, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for 23 years straight. It doesn't take a brainer to see the impossibility of such an monumental achievement. Some 2.3 million blocks weigh anywhere between 2 to 30 tons and some reach even 50 tons.

Hmmm... 2.3 million blocks in 23 years... another coincidence???

The Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., was built some 200 years ago and has sunk about 5 inches. This is normal for buildings carrying so much weight. The Great Pyramid has sunk less than that since its construction which some alternative theorists claim is much older that 4,500 years and may even predate the last ice age. That's because just below the sand sits a granite mountain which was flattened with precision for the building of the pyramid. The cornerstones incorporated a ball and socket design to help withstand earthquakes and Earth's natural heat expansions and contractions.

Contrary to popular belief, the Great Pyramid has more than 4 sides. On each of the four sides is an indentation that divides each face in two. This was only discovered by accident in 1940 when a British air force pilot flew above and noticed the concavity and snapped a picture which at the time went 'viral'.

Countless books have been authored, movies and documentaries have been made and still, no one can give a definitive answer as to who built the pyramid and how. The question of when it was built is still up for debate. The question of why is also still up for debate. There are so many fascinating facts about the Great Pyramid to leave any sane person speechless. Even modern humans cannot replicate the ingenuity it took to build this great monument. That alone should give one pause for thought. Everything we build these days eventually crumbles.

The planners of this Great Project knew True North since the pyramid is aligned to True North to within 3/60th of one degree. This is absolutely remarkable in itself but it only gets better. The east-west axis of the pyramid aligns with Earth's longest land parallel while the north-south axis aligns with Earth's longest land meridian. Where these two lines intersect is the center of Earth's land mass. The planners knew where these two lines intersected because that's exactly where the pyramid sits, right at the center of Earth's land mass.

If you measure all four sides of the Great Pyramid, which is a perfect square, you'll get 36,524 'pyramid inches'. There are 365.24 days in a year. The pyramid's approximate weight of 5,955,000 tons correlates with the approximate weight of the Earth, which is believed to be about 5,974,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kilograms. Not only is the size, shape, mass and density of the Earth incorporated mathematically in the pyramid's construction but also the masses of the sun and moon.

In the book, 'The Great Pyramid of Giza: Decoding The Measure Of A Monument' by Eckhart R. Schmitz, the mathematical connections are astounding. He points out a list of conclusions drawn from analysis of the relationship of dimensions found within and without the Great Pyramid. These include gravitational constant, escape velocity from Earth to obtain open orbit, the escape velocity needed to escape both the Earth and Sun's gravitational fields, the golden ratio, Pi, Phi, mean distance to the sun and moon, circumference of Earth's orbit, neutral points of gravity between the Sun and Earth, orbital velocity of the Earth and Moon, Metonic 19 year cycle of the Moon’s orbit of the Earth (Perigee / Apogee), the speed of light, orbital velocity of the Solar System relative to the center of the Milky Way Galaxy and even the velocity of local galaxies, including our own, relative to the universe.

The Great Pyramid even incorporates Earth's average temperature of 68 degrees. Stand inside the King's Chamber and you'll get the same temperature.

The Great Pyramid and its two smaller pyramids are placed in the exact same manner as the three stars that make up 'Orion's belt'. The last time the pyramids aligned with Orion's belt was about 10,450 years ago. This strongly suggests to me the pyramids are at least 10,000 years old and are probably much older.

Making things even more perplexing is the fact there is water erosion all around the Giza plateau, around the Sphinx and the pyramids. Water erosion is clearly visible on the walls surrounding the Sphinx. Some theorists suggest the pyramids and Sphinx were once submerged under water because of fossils that were found in the 1990s.

10,000 years ago, Canada was submerged under an ocean of ice and snow up to 2,000 feet think in some areas while over in what is now the Sahara Desert, a lush, green rain forest existed, keyword: RAIN! This would / could explain the obvious water erosion that can be seen today and is very well documented.

The extreme weather changes from ice ages to rain forests are a direct result of the Precession of the Earth. Earth has a slight wobble and this wobble takes 24,000 to 26,000 years to complete one cycle. There is more than enough evidence to suggest the pyramids were built with knowledge of the Precession of the Earth in mind and also the winter / spring solstices and summer / fall equinoxes. This is why I believe the pyramids are at least 10,000 years old and may even predate the last full cycle of the Precession of the Earth. In other words, the pyramids may actually be 30,000 years old or more.

The builders of the pyramids had such detailed knowledge of the soltices / equinoxes that on the day of the spring equinox, the sun shines directly over the Great Pyramid and in those few moments, the pyramid does not cast a shadow.

How did they know to build the pyramid right smack in the center of Earth's land mass, aligned to True North, incorporating so much detailed mathematical knowledge of the Earth, Sun, Moon, Solar System, the Milky Way and the Universe? We may never know but it should be clear to everyone that whoever built this great monument built it on purpose for future generations to gaze at, ponder over and unlock its secrets.

There is also speculation that a meteor struck the arctic some 12,900 years ago known as the Younger Dryas event. Evidence has been uncovered to strongly suggest this indeed did happen. It would explain the disappearance of the wolly mammoth and dozens of other creatures. An event like this would have caused a massive tsunami, melting of ice, rise of oceans and a complete change in our landscape, not to mention massive loss of life.

Is there a correlation to the story of Noah or the older story in the Epic of Gilgamesh which is near identical to the Noah story? Could the Younger Dryas theory explain why we have no detailed knowledge of who built the pyramids? I suppose the questions will keep on coming but our natural desire to uncover the truth may one day finally solve the greatest mystery of all: Who built the pyramids and why?

Many 'experts' believe the Great Pyramid was built as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu although his sarcophagus or body / mummy has never been found. A more intriguing theory is that the pyramid was some kind of power generating station. I hope one day, we will uncover the truth.

I enjoy writing brief historical articles. I am especially keen on the histories of companies / manufacturers, primarily those that no longer exist. A good example is the Studebaker Corporation which at one time manufactured cars and trucks and before that, horse-drawn wagons. Other articles may be about the wheel and the camera.
