HIVE Investment Games | The downfall of some of the HIVE games

3 Oct 2020 Behiver

03 October 2020
I agree it's a problem. But the difference between those two games and Splinterlands is that they are free and Splinterlands is not. Imo SL really fucked up with the last change, not only there are now people with almost max cards in lower leagues like the gold league, but they also made the game even more p2w, like with many other updates before. I'm not sure that CBM's decision will stop the farming, I think for now it will only slow it down. But I'm sure the team will come up with a permanent fix. I think Rising Star disallowing multi accounts is the right decision (even though it's kind of against blockchain principles). It's more work to enforce, but multi accounting was really a big issue. Not multi accounting itself, but the people that used the same cards to farm on multiple accounts. Here they could learn from SL and introduce longer card cooldowns, which requires a whole bit of coding and communication with third party markets though.

PublishOx should utilize HIVE. An elegant solution to a nasty problem.

They could very well keep their current reward model and additionally use Hive. Combine the best of both worlds.

It's not really a third party. The supply is adjusted by a smart contract.

Yes, it is bizarre, it is an experiment. But if you keep in mind the goal (preserving purchasing power) then it's a really interesting approach to the problem.

Understanding Ampleforth Rebases

They are trying to preserve the purchasing power that 1 USD had in the year 2019. The advantage over other stable coins is that you don't lose money through inflation. Also a difference is that AMPL don't tries to hold this value in the short term, but rather in the long term. You can find the price target on the Ampleforth website. Currently it is $1.009. Let's say the USD suffers a hyperinflation then this price target will begin to rise. If it rises to 2 USD and AMPL is still trading for 3.x$ the supply will still be increasing, just slower. If the price target is 2 USD but AMPL is trading for let's say 1.5 USD, then the supply will be lowered. > It’s performance recently is anything but stable and is actually incredibly volatile - how does this factor into the supply/demand of the number of tokens in circulation? The high price currently is because if extremely high demand. That's why currently you receive 20% - 30% more tokens for each rebase. The supply is inflating incredibly high, as long as the price is that high. Have you read this: https://www.ampleforth.org/redbook/ampleforth_overview/ ? I think it describes the process pretty well.

Ah yes. I think the reason for that is, too many people joining the ecosystem currently. Combined with the geyser you have the ultimate fomo and buy pressure generator. I think it will stabilize in a few weeks latest.

The growing gap between Hive and Steem loans on DLease

Do you think one reason for the high rates on Steem may be that you can keep farming the rewards by upvoting yourself? I can imagine that you can make a profit by lending SP and then self voting 10 comments/posts a day.

A Quick Overview Of Steem Project

9 Sep 2019 Rumi

15 September 2019
>When I started playing, the witnesses and whales said: "You write here for pleasure, and the money you earn is a bonus. Today everything is focused on “maximum cow milking”. I think there are three kind of people on Steem: Those who are there for the rewards , those who are there because there's no censorship and those who just like the platform (and/or for both of the other reasons). The problem is that, you shouldn't be there for the rewards mainly because then this “maximum cow milking” will happen. But you can't really stop people for coming only for the rewards. >Steem Engine is small in my opinion. People count on “SCOT” because it’s a free token, but it’s the same mechanism as Steem. I don't even think that the SCOT part is so great, sure it's cool to have but it's not really important. I like the fact itself, that you can create tokens (like on the Ethereum chain) and use them for different purposes e.g. gambling profit sharing tokens.

A Quick Overview Of Steem Project

9 Sep 2019 Rumi

14 September 2019
Yeah you're kinda right. But "posting a post for more money" is the essence of the Steem blockchain, isn't it? Maybe you need to look at other Steem projects, Steem-Engine itself is huge. Also Steemmonsters which is the killer app I would say at moment.

A Quick Overview Of Steem Project

9 Sep 2019 Rumi

13 September 2019
>I will also skip many projects on Steem that probably left: Dtube (he already has his own blockchain), Utopian (I don’t know anything about it, but I haven’t seen them for a long time - they fell?), Drug Wars, Strimi … DTube - Still operating on Steem (in combination with their own chain) Utopian - Still on Steem (paused/changed their project after a critical security breach on their site some time ago) Drug Wars - Still on Steem with their ingame money (DWD), stopped operating their game onchain because it's too slow (slower than "normal" browsergames) Strimi - Never heard of it, so I can't say anything about this
