THE PERSIAN EMPIRE - History's First Superpower

5 Aug 2020 YouveBeenGreeked

08 September 2020
The problem with your statement is timing. The Bible is regarded as a highly accurate historical book regardless of its spiritual roots. It's so accurate that any self-respecting archeologist researching the ancient Middle East would not be seen dead without one. Places found nowhere else than in the Bible are discovered regularly giving weight to the accounts in the Bible. If it is accurate historically in so many places then one has to conclude that the chronology of the Bible has to be accurate as well. And herein lies the problem for those claiming that Zoroastrianism is older. The book of Genesis states that Adam and Eve are the parents of all humanity. Adam and Eve sinned before they had any children so all of their children were born AFTER they were kicked out of the Garden of Eden. This account is in Genesis chapter 3. In chapter 4 we come across the account of Cain and Abel. Cain killed his brother Abel after God accepted Abel's offering and declined Cain's offering. This was not because of what Cain offered but the motives behind the sacrifice. Therefore we see the first account of a religious act. Then in chapter 5 we see a lineage leading up to Noah through Seth. Adam lived for 930 years. But verse 3 says that Adam was 130 years when he fathered Seth. Following this chronology and the chronology found in Matthew (Chapter 1 - Joseph's lineage) and Luke (Chapter 3 - Mary's lineage) we have to conclude that Adam was born in 4026 BCE. Add 2020 years from 1BCE (there is no 0 BCE) that makes 6045 years that humans have been on earth. So no way that Zoroastrianism could be 10,000 years old. Given that the Bible mentions in Genesis 3 the first mention of enmity between a good God and an evil angel, cumulating in a final battle between good and evil in the book of Revelation, it seems that Zoroastrianism gathered its belief from that. Also Zoroastrianism is a Persian religion and their rise to power didn't come until around 550BCE when Cyrus overthrew the Median king Astyages. This also creates a problem because it's well known that Moses completed the book of Genesis around 1513 BCE. That's a thousand years before Persia became anything on the world stage. The timing just doesn't add up. Remember Moses wrote Genesis as a account of something that had happened. He was born in 1593 BCE so almost 2500 years of humanity had already past by the time Moses came on the scene. During this time The Flood had occurred, Abraham had been and gone, and the Israelites had been in slavery to the Egyptians. It's true the Bible as we know it today wasn't completed until 98 CE with the Book of Revelation but it got its start in 1513 BCE and the books of Moses were already around when the Persians entered the world scene.

Epic’s feud against the Apple App Store is much bigger than Fortnite

16 Aug 2020 Luca B

19 August 2020
I never said you said Apple is a monopoly. Most people who write articles like this do use that line of reasoning so I was stopping it from being said by others. You are incorrect that Apple is a monopoly by definition. Here's the definition: the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service Apple does not have exclusive control of the supply or trade of commodities. They don't control anything other than products that THEY make. It's not different to BMW saying you only use our products and services on OUR cars. The same for Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan, etc. Sure you could put other brands in them but good luck getting support. To say BMW has a monopoly on BMWs is quite absurd but it seems okay to make that argument when it comes to Apple? Apple has the right to set the rules of the products and services THEY make, just like any country has the right to set the rules they want if you want to live there. Democracy, dictatorship, monarchy, it's all the same and it's the same with Apple. You want to use APPLE products and services then you must adhere to their rules. It's not rocket science and Epic knows this they're just trying to muscle in on products that they don't have the right to. Apple haven't bent any rules to suit them. They might update and change rules as people find ways to exploit them. The essence of the rules have been there since day one. Sometimes new rules need to be imposed because the tech changes. Once again no different to countries. Apple has acted fairly. There is NO evidence Apple has changed the rules to suit Netflix, Microsoft, Adobe, or whoever as studies have already shown. Apple doesn't operate any different to Google Play, Microsoft Store, or any other store so why the hell is Epic going only after Apple? Because they are only in it for Epic not their lame as excuse that they're trying to force better terms for developers and customers. Epic is fighting for Epic because Epic doesn't want to play at Apple's playground, but Epic won't make money if it doesn't because Epic knows that Apple customers like to buy stuff. Apple doesn't need Epic but Epic knows full well it needs Apple and it doesn't like it. Netflix, Amazon, and others don't have in-app purchases of their subscriptions to avoid the paying of Apple's 30%. And you know what Apple said to that? "Cool, they wanna do that then we're not stopping them". Epic tried to implement an in-app purchasing system that bypassed Apple's 30% fee. This is EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN by the App Store rules. EVERY developer know this including Epic. All Epic had to do was send the purchase link to their website to pay and they'd have been alright. Apple wouldn't have cared. But Epic went about it the douchebag way. Epic is in the wrong on this one irrespective if they agree with it or not. Epic then made it public to try and drum up support for themselves but you know what? It's backfired hugely on them. And do you know what's going to happen in less than 14 days from now? Epic will relent because they WILL lose huge amounts of money. It is however something they brought upon themselves. They thought they were better than everyone else but Apple says they're not. And Apple is right.

Epic’s feud against the Apple App Store is much bigger than Fortnite

16 Aug 2020 Luca B

19 August 2020
There are a lot of errors in this post. Apple has never stopped companies like Epic from allowing customers to buy content from Epic's store therefore bypassing the App Store. Apple is only saying if your app sells stuff within app then go through the App Store and you give us 30%. This is fair and reasonable because Apple is paying credit card fees as well as storage etc. These aren't free but that matters not to Epic who seem to think they should be able to live in Apple's store as squatters for free. Second Apple isn't a monopoly. Unlike Google who only makes the Pixel but license's the Android OS, Apple makes the entire phone, OS, and Store. As such it's well entitled to charge whatever and let whoever on its devices. By saying no to other storesthey're not doing anything illegal. It's not Apple's fault that Epic is chasing the money. Epic wants in on Apple's ecosystem but it's not prepared to help keep that ecosystem clean and well maintained. That's on Epic not Apple and it shows just how money grabbing Epic really is. Would it make as much money if it ran everything itself? Hell no. It wouldn't even come close. So Epic is riding Apple's coat tails while trying to steer Apple. The problem is that Apple holds the power. Epic agreed to the terms of the Developer Licence. Epic signed a legally binding document that said it would abide by those terms then renegged and tried to make Apple look like the bad guy. Epic is the bad guy not Apple. Apple is like a country. Want to live there then abide by the rules set. Don't want to live by those rules then either leave or face punishment. It's really that simple. It might sound petty but it's just logical.

Sweet article. Be interesting to find SIP servers in New Zealand. All ISPs in New Zealand support VoIP but it’s generally around $40NZD to have. Yeah, New Zealand has been pretty bang on with lockdowns so I don't think the problem is going to be that bad. However it's also a very small country and instead of 6 degrees of separation New Zealand has 2 degrees of separation so community transmission if left unchecked could go nuts. Once again though New Zealand has gone in quick with lockdown measures so containment is pretty likely.

I have to admit. I have zero political leanings. I once did a four month stint working in IT at parliament and any inclination I ever had of voting disappeared in that time. But Adern has handled herself well her entire term. We're heading into elections. No I will not vote but my prediction is that she is going to be tough to beat this election. She's proved herself whereas the others have done squat but complain.

Hate to say it but Christianity is NOT based on or in part of Zoroastrianism. The Christianity as found in the Bible was based on the teachings of Christ. Much of Christ's words as found in the Gospels are quotes from the Hebrew Scriptures. In fact the belief in God versus Satan goes all the way back to Genesis 3 which well predates Zoroastrianism. It is also the underlying structure of the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
