DeFi on EOS where we are what we need

13 Mar 2020 favicon

13 March 2020
Yeah, no... EOS could never take over the DeFi economy because its not (De)centralized (Fi)nance. EOS is fine for stupid little things like video game assets or building a social media platform on. However, consensus to freeze someone's funds is 17 participants. That's not decentralized, just ask people on Steem, they are all realizing how shitty DPoS is. People told them this over and over but they actually had to have their chain hijacked in order to comprehend it. Justin centralized TRON because DPoS is so centralized by design. EOS also got attacked in a sense, through its on-chain governance. DPoS is interesting for creating things like modern day corporations, with consensus validators acting like a board of directors. DPoS is not total shit, there are cool aspects to it. But its not "decentralized" and calling it that is outright fraud. Decentralization is a spectrum, but DPoS is completely outside the realm of anything that could be called decentralized. Have a nice day.

The Battle for Steemit! - Justin Sun and Governance

5 Mar 2020 cryptoramble

05 March 2020
I get the concerns of the Steem community, but its also hypocritical to say that one dude with 12000 STEEM should have much more influence than another guy with 500 STEEM, then when Justin buys an overwhelming amount of STEEM that he should not be able to vote. Steem is not 1 voice = 1 vote. Many people on Steem do not want it to be that way either, but to be stake-weighted. Okay, in a skin-in-the-game system Justin has the most skin in the game. That said, what Binance and the other exchanges did is fucked up and wrong. That shit cannot be tolerated.

Proof of stake is not the problem, its delegated proof of stake that does not work. In ETH2 validators are only for validating and failing to validate in consensus with the rest of the validators results in slashed (lost) stake. The aspect of losing your "miners" (ETH) when trying an attack changes the game entirely.

Are Central Banks About To Join Ethereum?

21 Jan 2020 The0xFactor

02 March 2020
The Federal Reserve and many other central banks are showing an interest in operating a "Central Bank Digital Currency" blockchain. These blockchains would be 100% controlled by them. However, what about when one central bank desires to trade with another? See, you must understand that governments distrust each other, because they have a tendency to lie, cheat and steal from each other, blatantly. For example, nations like Germany agree to do certain things in NATO and then don't do it. China's gov pretends they will get harsh on intellectual property theft, they have promised this for over 30 years, but in reality they encourage it because it benefits them. So, this is why central banks will use Ethereum. The Ethereum public blockchain is a neutral zone where parties that distrust each other can participate in trustless transactions.

definitely in the libertarian-ish category. I don't like to be firmly categorized, because I agree with deregulation most of the time and find myself feeling other things need to be regulated. Ultimately, I'm more of a decentralist than a libertarian and would like to see minimalist "Code Is Law" principles and infrastructure gradually replace all of our representative governance systems over time.

Hopefully they keep the tip feature and don't let the like/dislike button have any relation to rewards. I prefer platforms that don't even allow dislike buttons like Twitter. I have always hated how Reddit and Steemit were designed with their score system. Positive energy only, if you don't like something ignore it or utilize a block button that allows you to not see their content and they your content.

31 December 2019
I don't believe stake-weighted voting is healthy for a social platform. I believe Publish0x and Minds are much more fair and balanced in their design. I'm open-minded to Steem going back up, but if the price goes up I'd still power down my STEEM to get money for it rather than stay powered up. I am sick of the aggressive flagging/downvoting behavior on the platform and I just give up on the concept.

Did you ever bother to learn about sharding, optimistic rollups or ZK-rollups? Are you not aware that thanks to zk-rollups and the previous hard fork that Ethereum can now do over 2000 TPS with the potential to do 3000 TPS? Maybe learn about a subject before writing on it...
