Hello Mortals!

Let me tell you a story about one of the greatest battles in Gods Unchained history.

Here is a quick recap if you don't know about the blockchain-based collectible card game, Gods Unchained:

• Gods Unchained is built on Immutable X, a L2 blockchain that specializes in NFTs.
• $GODS is an ERC-20 token.
• I use my MetaMask wallet to connect to Immutable X and Gods Unchained. (Most web3 wallets should be capable)

For this match, I am debuting my "Light" deck, headed by Thaeriel, the God of Light. The opponent I am facing is using Auros, the God of War. He is an extremely tough God to face against, especially for my more defensive playstyle with Thaeriel.

This story begins with our Hero choosing the "Heal" power, which grants me the ability to Heal one of my creatures for 2 health points. This is crucial to my defensive playstyle.

The Light creatures have a generous amount of Health points, but they are weak in Attack points. When I play with my Light deck, I love to flood the field with my creatures, control the board, and force my enemy to continue to attack my creatures instead of my God. 

At the beginning of each match, after choosing your God Power, you are prompted with the choice to replace your some of your starting cards, or take them as is. Luckily, when I redrew for the final time, I was able to get my most important creature....the Aging Veteran!

You might say to yourself, this creature doesn't seem that strong, as he only starts out with 0 Attack points, and 3 Health points. However, the special ability of the Aging Veteran is that he gains +1 Attack points at the end of every turn (as long as his health is at 3 or higher).

If you play this card and have a decent start, it can really snowball and the Aging Veteran becomes almost unstoppable when combined with the other Light cards and creatures. As you will see in the video, and my story, the Aging Veteran was crucial and basically started me off great and allowed me to gain control of the board. 

Unfortunately, I made a couple rookie mistakes during my first couple turns and got my Aging Veteran destroyed. This is still one of my early matches so I definitely am not making the bets moves every turn at the point.

However, despite losing my Aging Veteran, I was able to revive him a couple turns later with the Pluck From Fate card. This card revives one creature each from my enemy's graveyard, and my graveyard, and adds them to my hand. I played this in a smart way to guarantee that I get back the Aging Veteran. This was a really cool move to pull off live and it raised my momentum significantly. 

At about Turn 6, I was losing 23 to 22, I had the Aging Veteran and one other creature on the board, and my opponent played an extremely strong creature with 6 Attack and 5 Health, called Riled Ursine.

This was definitely going to be a formidable foe and huge obstacle in my path....that is until I realized I had the Judge Envoy in my hand. Judge Envoy, in my opinion, is one of the best creatures in the whole game, as it has a great stat line of 6 Attack and 6 Health, but it's biggest strength is it's special ability to set an enemy creature's Attack points to 0; rendering them useless essentially. 

I played the Judge Envoy, and set the Riled Ursine's attack to 0. A huge momentum shift right after I started to worry! Plus I now have complete control of the board with 3 creatures, and my enemy basically has none on the board (besides a defenseless Riled Ursine). At this point, I am leading 22 to 21, and I just do not look back.

It only takes me 2 more turns to completely drain my opponent's God of his health and go on to win the match. 

I love this match and I think it is a perfect example of how Light is a good counter against the extremely strong and offensive War deck. 

As they say in sports, Defense Wins Championships!

However, I believe It is more true in Gods Unchained!
