On June 7th 2022, Bicycle purchased Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT #1,227 for 103.01 Ethereum (ETH), or roughly $135,000 at the time of purchase.
Owners of a Bored Ape NFTs are granted access to a private online club, exclusive in-person events, and intellectual property rights for the image.
The intellectual property rights allow Bicycle to use the Bored Ape NFT however they like; and for them, that means putting the Bored Ape on some playing cards and selling it.
Bicycle will also attempt to work with other Bored Ape NFT owners to create additional NFT-themed decks.
I believe this idea is either going to be genius or a huge flop.
The iconic playing cards brand, Bicycle, has been manufactured since 1885 by the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC).
As of December 2019, the USPCC is now a subsidiary of the Belgian card manufacturer, Cartamundi.

Bicycle has stated that the Bored Ape playing cards will be released in 2023, however, no official date has been set.
Surprisingly, this will not be the first NFT-themed Playing Cards that Bicycle release.
In December of 2021, the Bicycle Main Collection 8008 NFT & Playing Card Deck was launched.
Those who purchased this collection received a unique NFT and a physical playing card deck.
