Kraken has announced the acquisition of tokenized asset platform Backed Finance.
Backed is currently the world’s second-largest public stock tokenization platform, holding about a 23% market share. Its xStocks product offers more than 60 tokenized stocks and ETFs. Kraken said that after the acquisition, tokenized U.S. equities and related products will be further integrated into its trading platform. Following its latest funding round, Kraken is valued at around $20 billion and is preparing for a 2026 IPO.

Anthropic’s latest research shows that AI agents now possess significant on-chain exploit capabilities.
In simulations of real smart-contract hacks from 2020–2025, Claude Opus 4.5, Sonnet 4.5, and GPT-5 collectively reproduced about $4.6M in exploit value. When scanning 2,849 recently deployed contracts with no known vulnerabilities, the models also uncovered two new zero-day bugs and generated profitable exploits. The study finds that AI-driven exploit revenues have doubled roughly every 1.3 months, indicating that autonomous, profit-seeking smart-contract exploitation is now technically feasible.

Vanguard, the world’s second-largest asset manager, will now allow ETFs and mutual funds that primarily hold cryptocurrencies to trade on its platform, reversing its longtime stance.
The shift follows persistent retail and institutional demand, with spot Bitcoin ETFs pulling in billions since launch. BlackRock’s IBIT still holds around 70 billion dollars despite recent outflows and price weakness.

Coinbase Institutional announced that in the fourth-quarter rebalancing, six assets were added to the Coinbase 50 Index (COIN50):
