Cardano Attacked

News today is emerging that the Cardano Blockchain has suffered an attack from a disgruntled developer.  The attack came in the form of a malformed transaction which was broadcast by Homer J, and exploited a bug in the Cardano-node versions 10.3.1 and above.  This caused the newer nodes to fork off while the older nodes kept producing blocks at a reduced pace 

Homer J, the person responsible for the attack, has admitted they targeted Charles Hoskinson pool with a "personal challenge" to see if they could reproduce a bad transaction.  They claim to have used AI instructions on how to block traffic in and out of their personal server, which was untested before hand and ultimately failed.  They also claimed to not have financially gained in any way and apologized to the Cardano community for any stress caused, and that their actions were born out of frustration with "things/people in recent months/years".

Cardano Defended.

Charles Hoskinson, the Cardano Foundation, engineers from Intersect, IOG, and Emurgo all came together and worked closely together for hours to develop a fix. 

Over 3000 stake pool operators, exchanges like Kraken and Coinbase, all the aforementioned groups rolled out fixed version 10.5.2 within hours letting the healthy chain overtake the fork by the evening.  No funds were lost and no double-spends occured.

Charles Hoskinson stated on X "Cardano works so fast that we forked, fixed, and caught the guy all in one day. He was quite active in the Fake Fred discord. It was absolutely personal and now he's trying to walk it back because he knows the FBI is already involved."

More information will undoubtedly come to light as the aftermath is dissected, however as of now the Crypto community as a whole is largely praising the Cardano Blockchain and all the engineers involved for their rapid reaction and swift work in defending the attack and fixing the exploit.  The ADA price wasn't affected too much and is sitting around $0.4 (-2%).
