On Fallout 76 launch by the year of 2018, it received a lot of bad criticism and reviews.
In march 2021, Bethesda was bought by Microsoft by 7.5 billion. Since it, the 'new Bethesda' from inside Microsoft itself has been working hard on adding content and fixing existing issues within the game.

As a Fallout Series fan-boy i was disappointed by initial reviews but then in 2025 i decided to give it a shot and here is what i found:
Microsoft has definitively improved it since it's initial release.
Even though i can say it is not the best game of the series, it still have a lot of content to explore, have a big map with plenty of quests and repeatable events, and like in every game from series it is fun to grind weapon, armor and supplies.
But what they did really make it cool is the craft system. There is a vast quantity of mods a player can learn, either by reading the recipes or by dismounting existing gear. With that said, the weapons and armor can be highly customized, letting you to change features and appearance.
As a bonus, nice base building mechanics where added to the game along with the feature to claim workshops that can give you crafting resources periodically and let you fast travel to them at no caps cost.
The plot, like other games from same series, are full of dark humor and contain some cool character development options.
Yet, the game is far from perfect.
I can say it is pricey, the game contain bugs, some bad game-play decisions by the developers and requires 8 gigabyte video ram graphics card.
There's still other downsides.
The map is big, but once you have played a few hours you feel that it is too small. Also, even the map being big you have to walk a lot to find some respectable area, and yet, your character's get's over-cumbered too quickly from junk and gear. In addition, when you are over-cumbered your stamina does not fill up while running so you need to stop to recovery. The main problem here is, you need that junk to use one of the best mechanics (crafting) of the game, but you have to drop the same junk you would use every now and then because you can't carry it around.
Still, Microsoft is constantly providing new updates to the game. So if you enjoy exploring and crafting, might worth a try.
