1.5 Million Agentic Payments on XRPL — And This Is Just Getting Started

The XRP Ledger just quietly hit a pretty big number.Over 1.5 million agentic payments have already settled through the x402 facilitator. These aren’t regular user transactions. These are AI agents paying other agents for data, compute, APIs, and services — all on-chain, mostly in XRP and RLUSD.

Chandler Fang from t54.ai broke it down in a recent interview with the XRP Ledger Foundation. He talked about why XRPL is actually built for this stuff: fast finality, dirt-cheap fees that stay predictable, and a payments-first design that agents can actually use without jumping through hoops.

Most chains talk about the agentic economy like it’s some far-off future. XRPL is already processing real volume. Agents are spending money, settling in seconds, and moving on with their tasks. That’s not a whitepaper. That’s live activity.

The tooling is improving fast too — better standards, spending limits, authorization layers, and developer kits. Once more agents come online, this number is going to look small.

XRPL was always meant for payments. Turns out payments between machines might be one of its strongest use cases yet.

This is still early, but the direction feels clear. The ledger that can handle high volumes of cheap, reliable transactions is going to matter a lot when AI starts transacting at scale.
