I've taken notice of how I've written about all the legitimate earners out there and felt the compelling need to discuss a pit-fall in cryptocurrency - mining vs. other forms of earning.
Mining doesn't make as much for most people - in fact, it usually doesn't cover the electricity it uses let alone total overhead such as hardware costs, time, etc.
It's pathetic how much it makes for individuals suckered into using programs like CryptoTab (Never use it!), even with a solid setup it makes less than other earners I have that are quite legit yet don't pay for the electricity overhead, such as with Bitcoin miner (cloud paid-ad service) through GroupFabric which only pays me about 0.75c a week if I run 2 devices frequently when not in use which is in itself not worth the display electricity.
I only use this when I am already running a device such as my laptop for HoneyGain and I have burned out the paid ads on HideoutTV and Videofox and want to give them a break for a few days; it helps when you've really maxed them out and you are left with an empty/idle screen. If they are burned out, they also won't cover their overhead.
For the hell of it, I decided to delid my spare PNY GTX 980 4GB XLR8 OCE and applied fresh thermal compound since the card is aging. This is the payment I received after 2-3 days of mining ZCash (ZEC) with it in a well-cooled system, having reached the minimum for cashout:
Well, I won't waste my time with that again, LOL. It's worth 0.4 cents now boys, taking that straight to the bank with a 25% profit. XD hahaha - I can imagine what my earnings would be like after the final Bitcoin halving if I were mining BTC or Ethereum, which I have considered. I really want to mine both BTC and ETH but the costs for new antminers or comparative miners are a bit steep!
I'll note this article made more than 0.4c in DAI alone in the first 3 minutes of being published. How's that for a comparison?
Blogging on Publish0x daily will make you more than mining 24/7 for most. Even every other day... and then there's a cache of solid earners out there which I love for passive income and generally getting money for not doing much of anything which is nice in a world where everything has a hard price...
Some of us are lucky enough to not pay our own power bill. I still aim for efficiency as it is the logical and environmentally friendly thing to do; PoW currencies have a shelf-life for this reason, or so I believe. Sustainability is a requirement for the future.
I will make more money off 1-2 Publish0x posts than I would from running that card 24/7 for a year. Even at 0.4c a day it's only $1.46 USD in current value per YEAR. That's with a decent, but older GPU and a high power bill. Now imagine trying to pay off a MoonLander2 USB miner in Litecoin getting docked a mining fee despite paying for the physical miner.
There are some seriously bad deals out there and with the final halving here, one has to rule some things off the "earning" list even if they do pay, they don't pay enough.
Always do your homework. But, the general point I am trying to make here is: Write and stake more - do not get sucked into mining traps!
Or do them at the same time, but still - if you're barely making anything mining you'd be far better off generating content. I like to discuss earning techniques, market movements, really random shit like the tilapia farm in my basement, random crypto experiments I am doing, etc.
If you can, do. Why not?
Mining is beginning to feel really old school, in a way - like get out the pick and hammer, lol.
Unless, of course, you are running a serious setup, you may be better off blogging!
Stay safe out there everyone.
