Sacred lunar eclipse, dear Witches! How are you moving through the twin tides? 

In October, we talked about the power portal opening between the two full moons...maybe it is just me, but this eclipse has felt like the most powerful portal of all. I felt extremely grateful to gather with a group of you magnificent Witches last night in our virtual circle, and I am thrilled to reiterate some of the info I shared there in today's newsletter for those who couldn't make it. 

We have a lot going on in the universe, and I could probably wager to bet that you all are feeling some major chaos, transformation, grief and/or wild winds of change amidst all of it. In this spirit of Gemini - I want to reiterate that the virtual door to my Witch's cottage is always open. Communication is key at this time, and I am always honored to be a sounding board for those who desire one.

Awaken the Shadow

This morning, on November 30th, we had a full moon/lunar eclipse. The full moon hit at 4:29am EST, and the eclipse at 4:42am EST. This occurred in the sign on Gemini - an air sign represented by the symbol of the twins. These twins have represented duality, opposition and the many sides to consciousness since ancient times. They are the seen and unseen, tangible and intangible, physical and spiritual, the mind and the body, the light and the shadow. They both live within us, shaping and re-crafting our realities daily. 

Times rich in Gemini energy are focused on communication, and the pursuit of new experiences and information. This time can be fantastic for writers, or those creating anything from their true heart and sharing it with the world. Gemini energy is also very childlike - bringing about either a playful whimsy and craving for a solid skip down the lane or a wind-swept, speedy bike ride without a care in the world. Others may feel this time brings up wounds and worries kept tucked away since childhood. 

The eclipse adds an interesting punch to this already rich Gemini full moon. Eclipses are like bulldozers for your life. They spark a quick and dirty clearing of anything that was not serving you...whether you realized it or not.

What Leaves during an Eclipse most likely has needed to go for awhile. 

Eclipses are kind of like a "level up" in a video game for the already occurring qualities of the moon. With Gemini being the baseline for this one, the eclipse could cause a lot of sudden communication leading to a rearrangement of relationships, goals, circumstances or previously "stable" structures in your life. There could be shadow sides of you that have been waiting in the wings of your life for a long time that really shove their way into the forefront, ready to be integrated fully. 

We will feel the effects of the eclipse for a while, as the dust settles from the immediate upheavals of this lunation. 

So .... How do I roll with this?

Eclipses can be challenging. Like any time rich in shadowy energy, you may feel off-balance, anxious and overwhelmed. We force things into the shadows because there is something about those aspects of ourselves that messes with the status quo, or we perceive that it will. It might be because the emotions around the shadow energies are high, there might be shame or fear associated with others experiencing your shadows, or the shadow sides can just be downright uncomfortable until fully worked through. 

Given the muddy foundation of this Gemini eclipse - my biggest suggestion would be to stay grounded and in communication with your intuition. Ways to do this easily might be meditation, journaling, dancing, cooking or chanting. To add some gemini flavor to your routine - try meditation seated in front of a mirror. Focus on your own eyes for 5 minutes, and breathe deeply taking the time to look at your own reflection. Try writing a letter to your inner child, or a specific part of yourself that has been dancing in the shadows (for example, 'Dear Anger,'). 

Another important thing to do in response to this eclipse is CLEARING!! There is probably a lot of shifting energy in your home if you are going through any transformation, or after any difficult conversations. Once the bulldozer eclipse moves through your life, it is important to keep energies in flow and moving out of your space so nothing becomes stuck or stagnant.

To do this, open all of your windows and try concocting your own salt cleansing bowl! Grab a beautiful bowl and fill it with natural salt. Feel free to add protective or purifying herbs like rosemary, dill, cloves, garlic, black pepper or basil (just to name a few). Leave your bowl in a safe place away from any kiddos or pets until the new moon. Then, you can return the salt to the earth (being careful not to do so near any plants) - a patch of dirt is a great place to let it go, or the ocean or body of water if you live near one.

You can also cleanse your home with Florida Water, or one of my favorite things...clapping out the corners! It is truly what it sounds like - move from room to room and give each little nook and corner cranny three big claps with your hands. Energy likes to stick to the crevices of our spaces, so the movement of sound, air and energy will wooooooshhh it right out of there. Always be sure to remember the closets...plus it is wildly fun for your roommates or partner to wonder why the hell you are leaning into your closet and clapping. 

This time is a heavily charged portal into a new way of life (either literally a lifestyle change, or a new perspective), and with change comes discomfort. The most important thing to remember is that, if rooted, you can be a tree that withstands the storm. As mentioned, Gemini is an air sign and with the eclipse bolstering it - it might feel like a tornado wind. If you can manage to keep a web of roots firmly planted you might actually be able to enjoy the breeze : )
