Interview with Arata from WaxArena

Hey fellow Wax-addicts,

here is an interview with Arata from WaxArena.

So make yourself a coffee and enjoy.

1. Why did you personally choose to make Wax-Arena?
I was told I need utility for my NFT's when I first joined the WAX space with my personal collection, otherwise people will loose interest.

So I looked around what utility I can give them, and decided to create a game.

2. How did the idea of WA develop from the beginning?
I searched for a game to give utility to my cards, and I found out that RPlanet takes your cards away for staking. I thought there must be a better way, and because I was working as a frontend software developer, I quickly found an easier way to do it using AtomicHub API's.

3. Are you surprised by its success?
Yes, I was shocked initially. We planned for a much longer time frame of development, but it exploded early on, and we had to step up our game to stay relevant. I quickly found out that time on WAX moves much faster, and hype here comes very fast, and fades away as quickly if you don't maintain it somehow.

4. Lots of players, me included, are scared that more and more PP will be flooded into the market, that will create a Rplanet like situation.

How do you want to encounter that?

There are multiple ways we are countering that at the moment:
1. The AEXP passive generation will be lowered to at least 5x less than the current generating amount when we launch the fights so the AEXP people are mining right now is really a boost for early adopters.
2. The powerpoints you use for characters will be removed from the passive earning pool, so you will choose to put your powerpoints into passive earning, or into ACTIVE earning making your character stronger.
As you can see in the whitepaper we just updated, the current PP to max out a character full lvl 10 with full immortal weapons is around 166k PP.
3. AEXP will be burned in fights, aexp shop, skinning and unskinning your characters/weapons/armor.

4. There will be a lot of BURNING AEXP mechanisms throughout the game, to keep the value of the token up. Also a pretty low max token supply of around 10.000.000 AEXP.

5, What will happen, if we reach maximum supply of 10 million AEXP?

Maximum supply will be very hard to reach, at how we calculated it. It will reach max supply in around 24 months without ANY burning or AEXP spending, just accumulating. But in the extreme case that will happen, we can always add new burning mechanics, or create new tokens for different usecases inside the game. But there is such a low chance for this to happen that it is not even worth considering it at the moment. Also there are a lot of very interesting things coming up with the shop and alcor listing. I can't give out any information at the moment, but it's pretty exciting.

6. So burned AEXP is not calculated into max token supply?

No.

7. What will we be able to buy with AEXP exactly? Character and Equipment upgrade tokens?
New skins? New weapons and characters?

You will be able to buy upgrade tokens for characters and equipment.
Some skins (although most skins will be sold through drops I think).
Enchantments for weapons and character (these will be expensive and powerful, sort of endgame stuff).
You will use AEXP to blend character races into new races.
You will be able to buy unique NFT's, limited edition and supply mints from all of our partnered collections, that can only be bought from our AEXP shop.

8. Are there any other use cases for AEXP planned? Will the supply for AEXP be unlimited?
Will your team make constant adjustments?

AEXP supply will be limited to 10.000.000 AEXP.
You will be able to stake AEXP in fights (you will choose what amount you want).
We will make adjustments until the game is fully released.

9. Are you planning new races/equipments any time soon?
Not very soon, no.

10. Some drops are already stating the amount of PP they give as a selling point, which means they think people only buy it for it's PP not their artistic value. What do you think about this situation?
I think it's normal, they are part of a game and they need to state all the utilities their NFT's give.

11. The WAX-Blockchain has become really competitive, how does it feel for your team to be inside it, at this current time? With all your partnered collections, are you in constant conversations with them? Is it a constructive feedback?
It's an amazing experience, we love it! We keep in touch with our partnered collections, yes!

12. Last question: So far, your team has always reacted very positively to constructive feedback.
Can you promise us, that it will be this way in the future as well?
Definitely, this is the way we work! As long as the feedback is viable and technically possible, we are here to create a project FOR the community, not for ourselves.
