Don't Count Your Chickens (DCYC) is an upcoming project on the WAX blockchain which gives players the opportunity to steal other people's NFTs and today I stole my first one so here I am to share how you can do the same. Quick note, I'm no expert on this game and what I've written here is in no way an in-depth analysis of the project. It is a basic overview from what I've seen and I apologize for any inaccuracies that may be present but here we go.
In DCYC there are currently 3 important NFTs:
1. In-Game Packs: These are the main pack used as rather than coming from drops using WAX, they are purchased using DCYC's own token, EGG (can be found on the normal exchanges like Alcor, Defibox, Tacoswap, etc.). In these packs, you have a 90% chance to get a chicken, 8% chance to get a fox and a 2% chance to get a kitty (currently not useful). With chickens and foxes, there are different rarities each with different probabilities to be pulled. However, the most notable feature of In-Game Packs, is that there is a 10% chance that your NFT is stolen by a fox and the owner of that fox gets your NFT.
2. Chickens: Chickens are NFTs with the sole purpose of producing gold. This gold can then be used to either upgrade your chickens or it can be swapped into EGG which can then be used to buy In-Game Packs or swapped for WAX on exchanges. Chickens earn gold by being sent on missions and to receive the reward, you must travel on 8 missions with each mission lasting 12 hours. With each of these missions, you have the option to go 4 directions (North, South, East, West) and each direction differs in cost of the mission, reward, and risk. With increasing risk, there is a greater chance to lose some of the gold acquired on the mission and that gold is then added to the 'fox pool'.
3. Foxes: Easily the most entertaining (and painful) aspect of DCYC is the foxes. With a 10% chance that the NFT is taken from an In-Game Pack by a fox (and given to that fox's owner), steals are quite common and can be seen in the DCYC Discord where a bot announces each and every steal with what got stolen, the wallet of who stole it and the wallet of the person who opened the pack. In the past 24 hours (from when I'm writing this), there were over 20 steals proving that there are many opportunities daily to steal. Along with the prospect of stealing, foxes also allow their owner to claim gold from the 'fox pool' every 6 hours.
While I'm not writing to this to provide financial advice of any sort if you find any of this interesting do check out the discord server and have a read of the latest whitepaper. To add a personal perspective, foxes are what attracted me to get involved in the project as I liked the idea of "Waking up to see that I ruined someone else's day in my sleep" (I might be a bad person). While it took me 2 weeks to get my first steal (a rare chicken valued at 100+ WAX), there are many who steal much more often than this, with a record being 28 seconds which was not only a speedy steal but also stole a fox of the highest rarity, mythical.
That's all for now, have fun and I hope to see you stealing other people's things with me :)
