Jack Ma is the co-founder of Alibaba and one of the richest people in both China and the world as a whole, his months long disappearance from the public eye on top of rumors that China may nationalize Alibaba has led many people to believing that he had died and that the Chinese government may be responsible.  While the nationalization of Alibaba is still a possibility he squashed the rumors regarding his death by appearing in a video conference earlier today.
