However, the shared concern about China's influence may increase the prospects of an EU-India deal. India wants to show openness to the world and diversify its supply chain away from China, while the EU seeks alternatives to Chinese dominance.

Despite the potential benefits, progress in strengthening the EU-India relationship will likely remain limited due to trade hurdles and India's focus on the United States. Concerns over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's record on religious minorities could hinder any potential FTA deal.
