Newbury, England, is an important place to me. I spent almost a year there getting myself back together after leaving an abusive relationship.
Newbury is an interesting market town which is divided by two things - the railroad and the Kennet and Avon Canal. My year on the canal was punctuated by frequent walks up or down the canal, watching the narrow boats or helping with the lock gates.
Across the canal in Newbury itself were about four bridges that one could walk across. This was one of them. It goes from the library to the park. As you can see, it's quite picturesque.
These photos were heavily edited to make up for a rather poor camera at the time.

During my year in Newbury, we (my sons and I) spent a lot of time walking up and down the canal, watching the boats, meeting the people (and dogs) who rode on them, even helping them with the lock gates when we could.
Photos taken by myself in 2007 with a point-and-shoot camera and heavily edited. (photo salvages, really)
