Space Needle Memories

Childhood memories
My favorite city
Marked with the mysterious tower.

I would watch it
In the distance
Disappointed to simply pass by.

From the window in
My cousin’s room
Teasing, torturing, beckoning!

Tantalizing view
Over the skyline
Like a beacon guiding me to it.

I finally arrive
Elevator up
The doors slide open; permit me in.

All around me
I can see so much
Mountains, the Sound, monorail too

Satisfaction
Now placated
Maybe it’s time to descend once more.

So high in the air
Only birds belong
My feet yearn for the solid ground.

Elevator down
Remembering
What it was like to be at the top.

Beloved landmark
We are friends now
Mysterious tower, you are mine.

My favorite city
Childhood memories
The ones I will never forget!

I have many early memories of Seattle, including a trip to see the Exposition about King Tutankhamen. But it was the Space Needle I always looked for. It meant we were almost there - almost at my great-aunt and great-uncle's house! It really was my favorite city until I met London. But it remains my favorite city in the US.

Today's picture taken in November 2013 with my Samsung NX-11 and previously shared on SteemitWhalesharesBearshares,
