The European Central Bank have said In the past year that will create a sovereign digital currency if the Banks fail to provide a cheaper and faster payment solution.

Now,during an interview the Germany Central Bank President,Jens Weidmann called European Banks to find a cheaper and faster payment solution,to counter the proposed Libra stablecoin project from Facebook.

Weidmann (that's also an ECB Official policymaker) that is not for now,in favour of an Central Bank Digital Currency want Banks to find solutions that could lead the European Nations to be able to compete with the Libra global stablecoin.

Faster and cheaper than Blockchain,of course the Banks will be struggled to find! 

I bet that Weidmann knows that solutions in payments In a global scale need systems that already proved,tested and with guarantee on the Market.

Countries that are exploring the Blockchain Technology i believe that tried more than technologies but didn't found more cheaper and faster than that!

To be able to counter the Libra, the Banks must use the same "weapons" the Project will use...The Blockchain Technology. If the Banks start researches wishing to find other solutions than blockchain,of course they will stay behind from projects like Facebook's Libra Digital Currency.

If economies like China are planning to launch their CBDC I also believe it's time to Europe and more countries to Follow it and join the revolution.
