After a period of delay, the Hamster Kombat project, a widely popular Tap-to-Earn game, has finalized its Token Generation Event (TGE) schedule and announced that the airdrop of HMSTR tokens will take place on September 26, 2024.

According to their X channel (formerly Twitter), which boasts over 12.6 million followers, the Hamster Kombat team confirmed that the TGE and airdrop event is set for late September.

While the specific token distribution ratio has not been disclosed, the project’s whitepaper indicates that 60% of the total HMSTR supply will be allocated for the airdrop, potentially making it one of the largest airdrop events in cryptocurrency history.

Hamster Kombat stands out as a Web3 game on Telegram, offering a simple earning mechanism through continuous tapping on the main character and completing tasks. Since its launch in the summer of 2024, the game has drawn over 300 million players, with Telegram data showing more than 80 million active players in the past month.

Players can earn in-game token points or receive HMSTR tokens during the airdrop event. Notably, Hamster Kombat has chosen not to accept funding from investment funds, focusing instead on rewarding those who actively participate in the game.

Originally, the HMSTR token was scheduled for TGE in July, but the event was postponed to ensure better preparation for the airdrop, which will distribute 60% of the total supply to players.

The project has also encountered some challenges, including accusations from the Iranian government of being a “soft power” tool of the West and disappointment within the player community when leaked tokenomics suggested only 1% of the total supply would be allocated for the airdrop.

The Hamster Kombat airdrop event comes on the heels of The Open Network (TON) experiencing downtime related to the launch of the memecoin DOGS, which impacted transaction speeds.

In pre-market trading, HMSTR tokens are currently priced between $0.16 and $0.19 at the time of writing.
