Why Is Saving Money Harder Than Earning It?

Why Is Saving Money Harder Than Earning It?

I believe saving money is much more challenging compared to earning it since earning money allows us to experience progress in a more tangible way. Once we earn some money, we get a feeling of success. However, saving money requires us to make the decision to not spend the money we earned on ourselves at the present moment.

This is where the problem begins.

We spot something desirable, and our mind instantly tries to evaluate the utility, entertainment or excitement we would receive from its acquisition. Buying a cheap thing may not be that significant but buying several such things would stealthily steal us a large sum of money.

There is also a matter of convenience. The development of online purchases, delivery services, subscription models and digital transactions has rendered the spending process too easy for us. At times, it feels like we do not even spend the money since we do not give anything tangible away.

For me, it is one of the most bizarre aspects of the modern-day spending process.

The other issue that makes saving hard is that most people often consider what to purchase now rather than what can be done later using the same amount of money.

Saving involves being patient. The process of spending rewards us right away.

If I save my money now, there won't be any fun in it. On the other hand, I will have something right away when I spend it. This is why saving might be seen as a dull but useful process.

Sometimes I believe that people tend to make saving more complex than it should be. There is no need to have a perfectly planned budget or financial strategy to save money. It is even enough just to know how to use money.

What is important is to create some kind of distance between earning and spending.

The development of technology has simplified spending processes and thus, sometimes, saving money requires a bit more efforts.

Eventually, saving money does not mean that one will never enjoy money.

Money is created for spending. The main idea is to ensure that today's spending won't steal your opportunities tomorrow.
